Be alert at all times.

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man - Luke 21: 36

Does the Bible have anything to say about the 2008 elections in America? Specific outcomes of the race may not be covered in the scriptures but since prophecy is pre-written history the general implications of the election are inescapable...

America is patently unaware of the meaning of the meteoric rise of the EU. Europe has survived the direct onslaught of two world wars and now has the strongest currency in the world, three times the GDP of America and controls over fifty percent of the world's trade. America dances to the tune of its own politics and domestic affairs while largely ignoring the rise of the EU giant, almost as if Europe is still only our post war recovering little brother. Using terms to describe ourselves like "super power" and "leaders of the free world" the awesome spread of EU power has remained oblique to the average American and most of our leaders as well.One undisputed teaching of the Bible is that all nations including America are heading toward a major intersecting with Europe, in some ways it will be more of a collision course. Proverbs 23:19 My son, listen, be wise, and keep your mind going in the right direction.

THIS WEEK

1. Do you have some slow leaks in your life right now–or maybe some gushers?! I want to look at the energy leaks in our lives–the things that cause us to lose physical, mental and spiritual energy. The things that drive us into burnout and stress city. You know, you may have an energy leak and not even know it. ......MORE from The Christian Working Woman <-click here
2. Soak yourself in the scriptures. Your mind is like soil. It will sow any seed you sow into it, good or bad. When you sow words spoken by GOD into your mind, you are sowing energy, life, light and hope into yourself. His word is like a spiritual vaccination that strips satan of his power against your life. - Murdock <-click here"Unless Thy law had been my delights, I should have perished in mine affliction..." Psalm 119:92

3. You need to learn how to be positive. By this I mean positive in line with God's plan and purpose. I am not talking about the power of positive thinking just as some kind of esoteric regimen. That is good, but it is not good enough for us to achieve what God would have us to achieve.
This is the point I want to make. Thinking positively is always better than thinking negatively, and it will put you in a better frame of mind to accept what is going on around you. However, it will not change your circumstance. On the other hand, the power of positive confession, in line with God's Word will change your circumstances in a positive way.
Jesus said, in Mark 11:23:
"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
That means you will have the negative as well as the positive. If you do not want the negative, you had better stop saying the negative. - Frederick K.C. Price

4. (JIS-Kingston) Thousands of Jamaicans turned out on Monday, September 8, at the Norman Manley International Airport and along the route into Kingston, to welcome home triple Olympic Champion and double World Record holder, Usain Bolt. The Golden Boy of track and field made his much anticipated return to an atmosphere fit for a King.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding headlined the list of dignitaries who gathered to meet him at the Airport. 'Usain has demonstrated that we can be the best in the world and he has demonstrated that in a way that nobody else has done,' the Prime Minister said in an interview with JIS News. 'His performance is so extraordinary that although Carl Lewis and Jesse Owens both secured three gold medals individually, none of them brought home three world records and Usain Bolt has done that. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest athletes of all time,' Prime Minister Golding added. - Courtesy GM Young-Martin

5. Happy moments, praise God..
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God. - Courtesy Doctor Ruth Gordon- Martin

but sometimes, since they don't all have wings
we call them FRIENDS, SUCH AS YOU. - Courtesy Faith Jordan-Martin

7. There are people in your life that are there only to bother you. These people are in your life to keep you on your knees. These people are in your life because they are apart of the problem and the solution. These same people will help catapult you to your destiny! endurance

As a christian I cannot expect that things will always be smooth sailing. I am told to endure hardships as a soldier. I am experiencing some real tough times. I am sure you are no stranger to tough times yourself. We must push past the hard times and keep going. One key to endurance is to find someone to lend a helping hand....and be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted forgiving one another even as God for Christ sake has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

out of the blue a night watchman at my work place met me on the way out and took a bible out of his car and showed me this passage in Isiaih. It is really encouraging.

Isaiah 12

----------------------------------------------------------
1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

Mark 8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying,

Get thee behind me, Satan:

for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

A strong rebuke from a dear friend

....how easily I am distracted.

We used to leave the meat as the last thing on our dinner plates....we wanted to savour it...we wanted the taste to linger....the lingering taste mostly these days is so much of the WORLD.

I may have good intentions

that are not HIS intentions.

LORD help me to "follow hard" after you.

AMEN.
=====================

  1. Oh! to be like Thee, blessed Redeemer,
    This is my constant longing and prayer;
    Gladly I'll forfeit all of earth's treasures,
    Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.
    • Refrain:
      Oh! to be like Thee, oh! to be like Thee,
      Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
      Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
      Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.
  2. Oh! to be like Thee, full of compassion,
    Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
    Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
    Seeking the wand'ring sinner to find.

3.

Oh! to be like Thee, lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer, others to save.

4.

Oh! to be like Thee, Lord, I am coming,
Now to receive th' anointing divine;
All that I am and have I am bringing,
Lord, from this moment all shall be Thine.

5.

Oh! to be like Thee, while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love,
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

As Gustav crawled across the Caribbean, Tropical Storm Hanna formed out of a tropical depression northeast of Puerto Rico on Thursday, the eighth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.
Gustav had moved over Jamaica's eastern tip by 5 p.m. ET. Six hours later, Gustav's center was moving west along Jamaica's south coast with top sustained winds near 70 mph (112 kph), just below the 74-mph (119 kph) threshold of a minimal hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.
The storm, moving west near 7 mph (11 kph), was centered about 35 miles (56 kilometers) west-southwest of Kingston, the hurricane center said. See Gustav's projected path »
Hurricane warnings were in place for Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, 275 miles (443 kilometers) to the northwest of the storm's center.
Gustav hit Haiti as a hurricane Tuesday. On Thursday, Haiti raised its death toll from 14 to 51, said Pierre Louis Pinchinat, deputy director of the civil defense directorate.

Keeping a Family History Journal
Researching and preserving our family heritage is usually done over quite some time - years in fact. Some feel that it really never ends! The research time we spend will probably have many special memories associated with it - the meeting of a third cousin, the day trip to a county library with lunch at that cozy restaurant, and so on. Have you thought about keeping a journal of our family heritage search? Not only will it record special memories, but also little facts and oddities we may uncover...this is the spot to CHRONICLE our discoveries.

With love from Grace ..In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength...Isaiah 30 verse 15.

The Garbage Truck and Life:

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started Yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? That guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' That is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around Full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, So..... 'Love the people who treat you right. Wish well for the ones who don't.' Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Mammie Nella passed

Mammie Nella passed on earlier this evening (8/11/08),Jude's making arrangements to go to Haiti to put her body to rest. What a woman she was!!! I'm truly happy that I had the previlege to know her the way I did, as a woman ,my husband's mom,Grandmother to our kids and my mother-in-law.In all those roles she played, her ability to show abundant love and compassion was always visible.I'm thanking God for taking her out of her suffering because when our loved ones suffer so do we.I remember how very hard it was for us to see Daddy Shed this outer case and the pain he endured, but God only knows the purposes of our lives.It's usually through these moments of deep loss that we're able to step outside of ourselves and come to the real purpose of our journey here on earth, i.e. to serve God and do his will, to be conduits for him.
Please continue to pray for Jude that God will give him clarity of mind to make the decisions and for physical Strength in the preparation of them paying their final respects to a Mother who did good for her children inspite of insurmountable odds stacked against her. I only wish I were there physically in Haiti to stand with him and comfort him, but God knows all things and does all things best. Thank you for your listening ear and vigilent prayers.

Love always

disqualified

THIS  HUMAN  RACE
As we come close to the time OLYMPIC GAMES we may be thinking about  the athletes or the prizes or the different competitions. The thing that came to mind for me was the ONES WHO WERE DISQUALIFIED.

Listen to  Paul:  Whoever enters an athletic competition wins the prize only when playing by the rules. 2 Timothy 2:5
I toughen my body with punches and make it my slave so that I will not be disqualified after I have spread the Good News to others. 1 Corinthians 9:27
GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
Since we are surrounded by so many examples [of faith], we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up.
Hebrews 12:1

The idea of disapproval should always be on my mind as I am involved in this HUMAN RACE. Not just human approval. I must be thinking about my Father. He ALLOWS me to be in THE RACE. To meet his approval I must PLAY BY HIS RULES.

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart... Psalm 95. VISIT THE FAMILY CHRONICLE TODAY and leave a comment.

BUSY.....

'BUSY' means:
B-eing
U-nder
S-atan's

Y-oke / thinking/ suggestions?

PSALM 39
......every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
6 Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
8 Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

my mother used to talk to the devil.....I find myself doing a lot of that these days. Do you realise that the thoughts that come into your mind are not all YOUR THOUGHTS! for example I had to remind myself and the devil that he is such a liar...this is why we need to "hide the scriptures in our heart"

' the devil said: 'Distract them from gaining hold of their Saviour and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!' 'How shall we do this?' his demons shouted.
'Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,' he answered..
'Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.'
'Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.' 'Keep them from spending time with their children.'

'Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus.' 'Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause.'

A PRAYER IN SONG
(Written By William F. Lloyd)

My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul
I leave Entirely to Thy care.

My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.

My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.

My times are in Thy hand,
Jesus, the crucified!
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.

My times are in Thy hand,
I’ll always trust in Thee;
And, after death,
at Thy right handI shall forever be.

who says the economy is failing?.....you should be giving thanks...in everything !!!

DOES GOD TALK?
Yes, first through nature, now, today the fact that you are still alive!...and how beautiful are these summer days...the Heavens declare the Glory of God we saw some awesome rain coming back home on sunday.

God spoke in the past by the prophets...that's what the bible is and that's what it says ..God spoke and now speaks by Jesus...do you hear him?

WHAT IS THE WORLD SAYING?
who says the economy is failing?.....you should be giving thanks...in everything !!!
generally the people who do not want to hear or beleive God are called "THE WORLD"...they are saying a lot of "stuff"....mostly it is stuff AGAINST GOD....sometimes it is outright and direct....but usually it sounds good....the basic message is: if stuff is bad we can fix it ...we don't need GOD

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?
What you are saying will depend on who you are listening to and who you beleive.
I WILL SAY OF THE LORD,
HE IS MY REFUGE,
MY GOD,
IN HIM WILL I TRUST....

the purpose of life is:
1. to find God
you will seek me and find me when you have searched for me
with ALL your heart.....HAVE YOU FOUND HIM?
if not make it a priority TODAY !....you will eventually meet him in death....
for it is appointed unto man ONCE to die...and then...the judgement

2. to follow God
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
1 John 5:13

THIS HERE IS THE KEY
Habakkuk 3
17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

* The value of family
published: Saturday July 12, 2008

The Editor, Sir:
A few days ago my wife and I met with a young woman who is the victim of a number of unfortunate choices. How we wished we had access to your Letter of the Day on the value of the family.
Jamaica needs to be forcefully reminded of the values derived from proper family living. In addition, Jamaica needs to be reminded that this is still achievable, even where bad choices may have been made in the past.
commitment
The social experiment with family life is parasitic in that it depends on heterosexual relationships for survival. Thirty-five years ago my wife and I got married in Kingston. That understanding of commitment has shaped every area of our lives and is now influencing our three adult children.
Today, our world is a better place to live because millions of us rejected the social experiments and chose a path that is compatible with our biological makeup and could duplicate itself.

Ever wonder about the abbreviation A.S.A.P.? Generally we think of it in terms of even more hurry and stress in our lives. Maybe if we think of this abbreviation in a different manner, we will begin to find a new way to deal with those rough days along the way.

There's work to do, deadlines to meet;
You've got no time to spare,
But as you hurry and scurry-
ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER

In the midst of family chaos,
"Quality time" is rare.
Do your best; let God do the rest-
ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER

It may seem like your worries
Are more than you can bear.
Slow down and take a breather-
ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER

God knows how stressful life is;
He wants to ease our cares,
And He'll respond to all your needs
A.S.A.P. - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY OF THESE LATELY ?
Sour Sop (Guanabana, Kówósól) The soursop is ovoid in shape, covered with short , soft spines dark green in colour, changing to a pale green when ripe. The pulp of the fruit is white, of a 'woolly' texture and pleasantly acidic. The juice is used to make a delightful ice cream or iced drink.
