As Gustav crawled across the Caribbean, Tropical Storm Hanna formed out of a tropical depression northeast of Puerto Rico on Thursday, the eighth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.
Gustav had moved over Jamaica's eastern tip by 5 p.m. ET. Six hours later, Gustav's center was moving west along Jamaica's south coast with top sustained winds near 70 mph (112 kph), just below the 74-mph (119 kph) threshold of a minimal hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.
The storm, moving west near 7 mph (11 kph), was centered about 35 miles (56 kilometers) west-southwest of Kingston, the hurricane center said. See Gustav's projected path »
Hurricane warnings were in place for Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, 275 miles (443 kilometers) to the northwest of the storm's center.
Gustav hit Haiti as a hurricane Tuesday. On Thursday, Haiti raised its death toll from 14 to 51, said Pierre Louis Pinchinat, deputy director of the civil defense directorate.

Keeping a Family History Journal
Researching and preserving our family heritage is usually done over quite some time - years in fact. Some feel that it really never ends! The research time we spend will probably have many special memories associated with it - the meeting of a third cousin, the day trip to a county library with lunch at that cozy restaurant, and so on. Have you thought about keeping a journal of our family heritage search? Not only will it record special memories, but also little facts and oddities we may uncover...this is the spot to CHRONICLE our discoveries.

With love from Grace ..In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength...Isaiah 30 verse 15.

The Garbage Truck and Life:

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started Yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? That guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' That is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around Full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, So..... 'Love the people who treat you right. Wish well for the ones who don't.' Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Mammie Nella passed

Mammie Nella passed on earlier this evening (8/11/08),Jude's making arrangements to go to Haiti to put her body to rest. What a woman she was!!! I'm truly happy that I had the previlege to know her the way I did, as a woman ,my husband's mom,Grandmother to our kids and my mother-in-law.In all those roles she played, her ability to show abundant love and compassion was always visible.I'm thanking God for taking her out of her suffering because when our loved ones suffer so do we.I remember how very hard it was for us to see Daddy Shed this outer case and the pain he endured, but God only knows the purposes of our lives.It's usually through these moments of deep loss that we're able to step outside of ourselves and come to the real purpose of our journey here on earth, i.e. to serve God and do his will, to be conduits for him.
Please continue to pray for Jude that God will give him clarity of mind to make the decisions and for physical Strength in the preparation of them paying their final respects to a Mother who did good for her children inspite of insurmountable odds stacked against her. I only wish I were there physically in Haiti to stand with him and comfort him, but God knows all things and does all things best. Thank you for your listening ear and vigilent prayers.

Love always

disqualified

THIS  HUMAN  RACE
As we come close to the time OLYMPIC GAMES we may be thinking about  the athletes or the prizes or the different competitions. The thing that came to mind for me was the ONES WHO WERE DISQUALIFIED.

Listen to  Paul:  Whoever enters an athletic competition wins the prize only when playing by the rules. 2 Timothy 2:5
I toughen my body with punches and make it my slave so that I will not be disqualified after I have spread the Good News to others. 1 Corinthians 9:27
GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
Since we are surrounded by so many examples [of faith], we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up.
Hebrews 12:1

The idea of disapproval should always be on my mind as I am involved in this HUMAN RACE. Not just human approval. I must be thinking about my Father. He ALLOWS me to be in THE RACE. To meet his approval I must PLAY BY HIS RULES.

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart... Psalm 95. VISIT THE FAMILY CHRONICLE TODAY and leave a comment.

BUSY.....

'BUSY' means:
B-eing
U-nder
S-atan's

Y-oke / thinking/ suggestions?

PSALM 39
......every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
6 Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
8 Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

my mother used to talk to the devil.....I find myself doing a lot of that these days. Do you realise that the thoughts that come into your mind are not all YOUR THOUGHTS! for example I had to remind myself and the devil that he is such a liar...this is why we need to "hide the scriptures in our heart"

' the devil said: 'Distract them from gaining hold of their Saviour and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!' 'How shall we do this?' his demons shouted.
'Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,' he answered..
'Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.'
'Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.' 'Keep them from spending time with their children.'

'Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus.' 'Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause.'

A PRAYER IN SONG
(Written By William F. Lloyd)

My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul
I leave Entirely to Thy care.

My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.

My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.

My times are in Thy hand,
Jesus, the crucified!
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.

My times are in Thy hand,
I’ll always trust in Thee;
And, after death,
at Thy right handI shall forever be.
