God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them
to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual growth for our future.
God reminds us of the past to protect us from
a very shallow security in the present.

Our present enjoyment of God's grace tends to be lessened
by the memory of yesterday's sins and blunders.

God's hand reaches back to the past,
settling all the claims against our conscience.

...the Lord will go before you, and the God of
Israel will be your rear guard —Isaiah 52:12

"You shall not go out with haste . . . ." —Isaiah 52:12
As we go forth into the coming year, let it
not be in the haste of
impulsive thoughtlessness,

let us go out with the patient power of knowing
that the God of Israel will go before us. Our yesterdays
hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true that
we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God
can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive
thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past rest,
but let it rest in the sweet embrace of Christ.

Leave the broken, irreversible past in His hands,
and step out into the invincible future with Him.

the love

"There's only one thing we can be sure of, and that is the love that
we have — for our children, for our families, for each other....that's
what should drive us forward in everything we do, for as long as God
sees fit to keep us on this Earth." "Let the little children come to
me," Jesus said, "and do not hinder them — for to such belongs the
kingdom of heaven." (Excerpts; President Obama At Sandy Hook Prayer
Vigil

CLOSURE

Everyone is trying to settle their mind
after the horrible tragedy last Friday.
The public looks to the professional
investigators to find the facts then
offer an explanation from which
Individuals will draw conclusions
and try to find 'closure'.

Meanwhile, priests and preachers
will attempt to console and encourage.

interfaith vigil, I thought about Mr Lanza
the elder. The father of the killer.
I had not heard any mention
of him in the reporting,

Questions began to flood my mind.

Is he still alive? If so what is he thinking?
If not alive what influence did he have on
his son?

Like all other aspects of this murder investigation
this family background 'angle' will perhaps
generate even more questions than answers.

One useful question for Fathers:
How could I PREVENT this
form happening
in my family?

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Transcript of President Obama's speech at the interfaith vigil in Newtown, Conn., Dec. 16 in honor of the victims of the shootings at Sandy Hill Elementary. Source: White House

Thank you. (Applause.) Thank you, Governor. To all the families, first responders, to the community of Newtown, clergy, guests — Scripture tells us: "...do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away...inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

"For we know that if the earthly
tent we live in is destroyed,
we have a building from God,
an eternal house in heaven,
not built by human hands."

IDENTITY ISSUE:
people don't like it
if you beleive you
are what they think
you are not.

soooo...
"know your place"

O wretched man that I am! who shall
deliver me from the body of this death?
Romans 7:24
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Romans 6:6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Romans 8:2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Romans 8:23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Colossians 2:11 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. Galatians 6:3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Acts 14:22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God," they said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 John 2:6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

WHO DO U THINK U R? IDK

this has been coming up a lot lately
or maybe i just am noticing it.
i think it is like a closing door.

maybe when the daughter or worse yet
the wife begin to use IDK...not a good sign right?

what i think is mostly important to me.
if i start sayng i don't care...about what
you think...that's not a good sign either...right?

sometimes we try to convince ourselves
that we don't care what others think or say
sometimes we really don't care !!
the wall we build to protect ourselves from
emotional hurt may also be keeping us
from building meaningful relationships.

so...this guy was asking his buddies
not if but what...were they hearing
were people talking...behind his back.

I didn't think that a man of his stature
should be worried about what people
were thinking...but he was.

last night I heard it again
a gentleman who is very
influential in the community
where i live...a very much
respected man....
yet he seemed to be concerned about what people were saying
about him. I thnik I know this guy pretty well .... yet at first I thought he
was becoming a little unhinged...now i am thinking about it....NOT AT ALL
UNHINGED !!! ? it is absolutely the right thing to do !!!

now back to the guy with his buddies...it occured to me that maybe
people may know stuff about me that even i don't know....so i should care
what people think. maybe GOD will tell ONE person in the whole world
something about you....well that may be a little absurd....well not really...

so let's get to the story:
Lk9:18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? 19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. 20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God. 21 And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing.

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. (Psalm 135:5, 6 KJV)
Why do democrats and republicans think God cannot use "the other party"? He can use ANYONE !!

But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. (Psalm 115:3 KJV)

a spectator - sometimes
THE COMPETITION
I spoke with the refs today.
They have to judge...they are very careful with that whistle.
I told them I can't be a ref. or a player; being a mere spectator is also out. I want to be a coach.

Man without trials like
Fish without water
DON'T BE ENTICED !
James 1:2, 14
Trouble is trial
Embrace it
Enjoy it
Endure it
James 1
There is no secret to the Christian life. It all boils down to whether you care or not. God cares (1st Peter 5:7), and we should as well. If you care, then you will obey God and focus on the things of Christ in this life (Philippians 2:21), and not the cares, riches and pleasures of the world (Luke 8:14).

OTHER GODS

Should we send Mister Smith to DC or continue Sarah's plan?

Annabeth: Hubris means deadly pride, Percy. Thinking you can do things better than anyone else... Even the gods."  ― Rick Riordan, The Sea of Monsters

"Some of the biggest cases of mistaken identity are among intellectuals who have trouble remembering that they are not God."   - Thomas Sowell

"The Way of Mastery is to break all the rules—but you have to know them perfectly before you can do this; otherwise you are not in a position to transcend them." -  Aleister Crowley, The Book of the Law

And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. But the word of God grew and multiplied. (Acts 12:21-24 KJV)

"While the financial crisis destroyed careers and reputations, and left many more bruised and battered, it also left the survivors with a genuine sense of invulnerability at having made it back from the brink. Still missing in the current environment is a genuine sense of humility."  - Andrew Ross Sorkin, Too Big to Fail

"There were long stretches of DNA in between genes that didn't seem to be doing very much; some even referred to these as "junk DNA," though a certain amount of hubris was required for anyone to call any part of the genome "junk," given our level of ignorance."  - Francis S. Collins, The Language of God

"The Duke would not pay for the works. He says that the Castle can never be taken. That is called hubris, Giacomo, the belief that you are never wrong. Believing you are never wrong is an error that afflicts great men. I have learned that to be right you must first be wrong many times. Without making errors--and learning from them--a man cannot find the truth."  - Christopher Peter Grey, Leonardo's Shadow

"It is the certainty that they possess the truth that makes men cruel. -Anatole France, novelist, essayist, Nobel laureate (1844-1924)"

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. (Genesis 3:4, 5 KJV)

Is it really broken?
Can it be fixed?
Can "we" fix it?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV)

& MY SONG OF THE DAY

He saves me from every sin and harm,
Secures my soul each day;
I’m leaning strong on His mighty arm;
I know He’ll guide me all the way.

Refrain
Saved by His power divine,
Saved to new life sublime!
Life now is sweet and my joy is complete,
For I’m saved, saved, saved!

When poor and needy and all alone,
In love He said to me,
“Come unto Me and I’ll lead you home,
To live with Me eternally.”

CURIOUS?

The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the innermost
parts of his being. - Proverbs 20:27

"For The Eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to
show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." 2
Chronicles 16:9

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for
a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14

==============
consider the following excerpts:

.... obsessed with watching, tracking, monitoring and recording
virtually everything that you do on the Internet. ... nothing you do
on the Internet will ever be private again.

The Internet is the greatest tool for mass communication that the
world has perhaps ever seen, and it gives average citizens the ability
to communicate with each other like never before, but ....Is
everything that we do on the Internet is being watched, monitored and
recorded ????

reasons why …. Potential Employers Are Demanding To See Your Internet Activity

The following comes from a recent CBS News report….

The bad news is that employers are increasingly asking job seekers for
their Facebook and other social-media passwords as part of the process
of vetting them.

While it's unclear how widespread that practice is, there's plenty of
anecdotal evidence to suggest that it is happening with increasing
frequency, as CBS MoneyWatch's Suzanne Lucas details. You can, of
course, refuse to give a job interviewer your passwords. But expect
your employment application to hit the round file, or the trash, if
you don't cooperate.

Do you remember the father that posted that "Facebook Parenting for
the troubled teen" video that went wildly viral all over the Internet
earlier this year?

That video was watched more than 31 million times, but it also
resulted in both the police and Child Protective Services officials
visiting his home.

So be careful what you post on YouTube.

governments all over the world could be monitoring your Internet
activity and you may never even know it. In fact, the level of
Internet surveillance in some countries is arguably even greater than
it is in the United States.

For example, a new bill that has been introduced in Canada would give
government authorities unprecedented power to monitor the Internet
activities of Canadians….
Dubbed "online spying" by critics, the bill is also expected to
require ISPs and phone companies to install equipment for real-time
surveillance ..The UK government is going even farther than that. ..We
suggest that the Government work with internet service providers in
the UK to develop a Code of Conduct committing them to removing
violent extremist material, French President Nicolas Sarkozy is taking
things even farther than that. He recently stated that anyone in
France that is caught regularly visiting websites "preaching hatred"
will be prosecuted.

The following is from a recent Raw Story article….

If you download potentially copyrighted software, videos or music,
your Internet service provider (ISP) has been watching, and they're
coming for you.

That's the date when the nation's largest ISPs will all voluntarily
implement a new anti-piracy plan that will engage network operators in
the largest digital spying scheme in history, and see some users'
bandwidth completely cut off until they sign an agreement saying they
will not download copyrighted materials.

..deal was brokered by the Recording Industry Association of America
(RIAA) and the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), and
coordinated by the Obama Administration.

So be careful what you download on the Internet.

The online world has now become a world where there is absolutely no privacy.

Some are responding to this new reality by running away from the Internet,

The Internet has broken the monopoly that the elite had on mass
communication. It has given average people the ability to communicate
with one another like never before. A YouTube video or a blog post
that you put up today could be seen by tens of millions of people.
Information is power, and the Internet has put a tremendous amount of
power into the hands of the general population.

Yes, there will be people watching every single thing you do on the
Internet. So it is important to be very careful.

But the Internet also gives us an opportunity to impact the world that
is unlike anything previous generations have ever had. Something that
you post on the Internet today could end up completely changing a life
on the other side of the globe tomorrow.

The Internet is an incredible tool for exposing evil and corruption,
and over the past decade we have seen many instances when average
people on the Internet have broken major news stories...

In the final analysis, the ability to wake people up and to literally
change the world outweighs the risks of being watched.

The Internet is an awesome tool. It can be used for great good or for
great evil.

If we sit on our hands, we will accomplish nothing.
But if we try, we might just end up changing the world.

1 Cor. 10:13

We have gone through the big crisis, now be alert over the
least....Do not forecast where the temptation will come, it is the
least likely thing that is the peril....is not dominant, but remember
it is there, and if you are not warned, it will trip you up. You have
remained true to God under great and intense trials, now beware of the
undercurrent. Do not be morbidly introspective, looking forward with
dread, but keep alert; keep your memory bright before God. - CHAMBERS

Christian, seek not yet repose,
Hear thy gracious Savior say;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.

Principalities and powers,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for thy unguarded hours:
Watch and pray.

Gird thy heavenly armor on,
Wear it ever night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray.

Hear the victors who o'ercame,
Still they mark each warrior's way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
Watch and pray.

Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray.

Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.

tricks traps & trust

Mary Whelchel had a burden to encourage .....

The true man wants two things; danger and play.
For that reason he wants a woman,
as the most dangerous plaything.

I had a discussion this morning about the history of violence.....
it is unmistakeable. The smashing of horns, the slashing
of teeth and claw, the blood and gore ... the cries of
fear, pain and anguish ... after a while, it all starts
to blend together. we humans take even the
violence inherent in life and dare I say ...
improve upon it. We add guns, machetes,
bombs, drones, Molotov cocktails and napalm.
We kill teenagers in the street, mothers in their
beds, and children ... everywhere we kill children.
I have just finished reading The Hunger Games,
where children are reaped to fight to the death to
atone for the "sins" of their ancestors.

"Money, sex and power are the three-legged

We have to be careful when we march into these
areas because we often unwittingly recreate
....the very problems we intended to resolve.

(3916) Holy Thursday 2012

Wonderful, merciful Saviour
Precious Redeemer and Friend
Who would've thought that a Lamb could
Rescue the souls of men
Oh, You rescue the souls of men

Counselor, Comforter, Keeper
Spirit we long to embrace
You offer hope when our hearts have
Hopelessly lost our way
Oh, we've hopelessly lost the way

CHORUS:
You are the One that we praise
You are the One we adore
You give the healing and grace
Our hearts always hunger for
Oh, our hearts always hunger for

Almighty, infinite Father
Faithfully loving Your own
Here in our weakness You find us
Falling before Your throne
Oh, we're falling before Your throne

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

If you cannot express yourself on any subject, struggle until you can. If you do not, someone will be the poorer all the days of his life. Struggle to re-express some truth of God to yourself, and God will use that expression to someone else. Go through the winepress of God where the grapes are crushed. You must struggle to get expression experimentally, then there will come a time when that expression will become the very wine of strengthening to someone else; but if you say lazily - "I am not going to struggle to express this thing for myself, I will borrow what I say," the expression will not only be of no use to you, but of no use to anyone. Try to state to yourself what you feel implicitly to be God's truth, and you give God a chance to pass it on to someone else through you.

Always make a practice of provoking your own mind to think out what it accepts easily. Our position is not ours until we make it ours by suffering. The author who benefits you most is not the one who tells you something you did not know before, but the one who gives expression to the truth that has been dumbly struggling in you for utterance. - Oswald Chambers

‎"Many Christians estimate difficulty in the light of their own resources, and thus they attempt very little and they always fail. All giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on His power and presence to be with them. Since the days of Pentecost, has the whole church ever put aside every other work and waited upon Him for ten days, that the Spirit's power might be manifested? We give too much attention to method and machinery and resources, and too little to the source of power." - Hudson Taylor

a gem

Sincerity means that the appearance
and the reality are exactly the same.

they are hid

If thou hadst known . . . in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. — Luke 19:42

God never opens doors that have been closed. He opens other doors, but He reminds us that there are doors which we have shut, doors which need never have been shut, imaginations which need never have been sullied. Never be afraid when God brings back the past. Let memory have its way. It is a minister of God with its rebuke and chastisement and sorrow. God will turn the "might have been" into a wonderful culture for the future. - CHAMBERS

preparing for what? (3880)

and strategies, preppers will go to whatever lengths they
can to make sure they are prepared for any of life's uncertainties."
Curios about Doomsday?
Check out these interesting articles, brought to you by Discovery News!

Last month the National Geographic Channel introduced "Doomsday Preppers," a Tuesday-night reality series about people who are stockpiling, arming and otherwise preparing for some kind of apocalypse.
In America today, there are millions of "preppers" that are working feverishly to get prepared for what they fear is going to happen to America.  There is a very good chance that some of your neighbors or co-workers may be preppers.  You may even have noticed that some of your relatives and friends have been storing up food and have been trying to convince you that we are on the verge of "the end of the world as we know it".  A lot of preppers like to keep their preparations quiet, but everyone agrees that the prepper movement is growing.  Some estimate that there are four million preppers in the United States today.  Others claim that there are a lot more than that.  In any event, there are certainly a lot of preppers out there.  So exactly what are all these preppers so busy preparing for? - THE AMERICAN DREAM

Last week it was the Discovery Channel's turn. Its new "Doomsday Bunkers," on Wednesday nights, is about Deep Earth Bunker, a company that builds underground getaways for the types of people seen in "Doomsday Preppers."

by Ralph S.Cushman

I met God in the morning When my day was at its best,
And his presence came like sunrise
Like a glory in my breast.

All day long the Presence lingered,
All day long he stayed with me,
And we sailed in perfect calmness
O’er a very troubled sea.

Other ships were blown and battered,
Other ships were sore distressed,
But the winds that seemed to drive them
Brought to us a peace and rest.

Then I thought of other mornings,
With a keen remorse of mind,
When I too had loosed the moorings,
With the Presence left behind.

So I think I know the secret,
Learned from many a troubled way:
You must seek him in the morning
If you want him through the day!
For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. (Luke 19:26)

Eternal Ruler of the ceaseless round
of circling planets singing on their way,
Guide of the nation from the night profound
into the glory of the perfect day;
rule in our hearts, that we may ever be
guided and strengthened and upheld by thee.

We are of thee, the children of thy love,
the brothers of thy well-beloved Son;
descend, O Holy Spirit, like a dove
into our hearts, that we may be as one:
as one with thee, to whom we ever tend;
as one with him, our Brother and our Friend.

We would be one in hatred of all wrong,
one in the love of all things sweet and fair,
one with the joy that breaketh into song,
one with the grief that trembleth into prayer;
one in the power that makes thy children free
to follow truth, and thus to follow thee.

Oh, clothe us with thy heavenly armor, Lord,
thy trusty shield, thy sword of love divine;
our inspiration be thy constant word,
we ask no victories that are not thine;
give or withhold, let pain or pleasure be;
enough to know that we are serving thee.

Human & Computer Viruses?

Mark Gasson had caught a bad bug. Though he was not in pain, he was keenly aware of the infection raging in his left hand, knowing he could put others at risk by simply coming too close. But his virus wasn't a risk for humans. Gasson, a cybernetics scientist at the University of Reading, was walking around with an implanted microchip he had intentionally infected with a computer virus. If he got too close to a computer, he could in principle infect that machine.

Although this possibility may sound like a foray into science fiction, information security experts believe the blurring of the boundaries between computer and biological viruses is not so far-fetched—and could have very real consequences.

As TechWorld reports, Axelle Apvrille and Guillaume Lovet of the network security company Fortinet presented a paper comparing human and computer virology and exploring some of the potential dangers at last week's Black Hat Europe conference - SCIENTIFIC AMERICA

Have you ever drafted a note to somebody when you were really miffed?  Not that you would send it, of course, but the exercise of writing out your thoughts often helps us process through our anger.

We all have something we want to communicate.  We are harboring thoughts about things we've done, things that define us, problems we're struggling to solve, and situations that cause us frustration with others.

By building a relationship that allows for a balance between guidance and accountability, we can cultivate an environment of trust that convinces our family and friends that we love them … no matter what. - (adapted from Gregston)

6th man

13For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

---------------

Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood: 12That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace: 13That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: 14That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets. 15Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

----------------------

3For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. 6For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. 7But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. 8In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

13Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. 14Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people. 15My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me, 17All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. 18Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way; 24Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? 25For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. 26Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.
