Christin Ditchfield

Hi I'm Christin Ditchfield with Take It To Heart!

In the classic allegory Pilgrim's Progress, author John Bunyan describes the journey of a man named Christian from sin and bondage in the City of Destruction to eternal peace and joy in the Celestial City. Along the way, Christian faces many trials that test his faith.

At one point, he passes through a dark valley inhabited by hideous demonic beings that hover about, just out of sight. They begin to whisper the most awful, blasphemous things in Christian's ear. Stumbling along in the dark, Christian mistakes their voices for his own thoughts. He's overcome with horror and shame and self-reproach. How could he think such things? What a terrible wretch he is! Christian staggers under the guilt and despair.

Down through the ages, many believers have experienced that very same thing. Satan whispers his blasphemies, introduces evil thoughts – and we're shocked and dismayed. We think WE came up with these vile expressions. We ask ourselves, "Can I really be a Christian and think such a thing?"

In Bunyan's story, Christian is rescued when a friend comes alongside him and begins quoting the Word of God to him. Just as the Scripture promises, the demonic beings are forced to flee. It's a strategy that will work for us today.

So often we mistake the voice of the enemy for that of our own hearts. We feel guilty and ashamed and question our salvation – when what we need to do is rebuke the devil and watch him flee. We need to stop taking credit for his filth, refuse to listen to his lies, and counter every blasphemous thought with the Scripture, words of truth and praise.

HOWCOME

"the need to know"

man: I don't know (IDK)
God: you don't know WHERE I am? I already told you, remember Matthew 28:20.
man: I don't know why this is happening to me, maybe I don't need to know.
God: hmmm....Romans 8:28
man: why don't you tell me what I NEED TO KNOW, I've been watching the
"news" and I still don't know what's going on.
God: well...you already have a few things that you KNOW...for sure;
Isaiah 45:6-7, Matthew 19:26, Matthew 6:34
man: I'm confused....
God: that electricity bill....the one with the red marker.... that one
is due tomorrow !
man: but what about the "DEBT CEILING"? ...and these "gun crimes" and
"global warming" ?
God: why do you 'need to know'? Psalm 22:28, Proverbs 16:4, Psalm
115:3; Do you have to know about electricity before you use it?
man: well....science is 'pushing back the frontiers on
knowledge'....and...well... we just don't know...
God: hmmm...science?...you mean that 'observation and experimentation'
stuff from your high school and college days. Remember

they told you it was so they could 'predict' and 'control'
stuff....Isaiah 45:7, Romans 9:21, Daniel 4:35
man: yeah....like the weather, they been 'observing' that for a long
time; not too sure about the predictions....they keep telling us stuff

like 50% chance of a shower....and the control is all up to us we
can't seem to 'control' the rain but we try to control what we
wear...we

been doing raincoats and umbrellas for a while.
God: well let me 'know' (prayer) how that electricity thing works
out....and don't worry about the news... and check this out again 1
Thessalonians 5:16-22....and this ....(I) humbled you, and allowed you
to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you knew not, neither did
your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live
by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the
LORD does man live..... these are the things you really NEED TO KNOW
!!

UNFRIENDED ME!

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10 KJV)

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20 KJV)

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. (Mark 8:38 KJV)

Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6, 7 KJV)

unfriended

Mark Roberts asks:

If Jesus were on earth today, would he really have a Facebook page? If so, why? If not, why not?

"Jesus would not have a Facebook page. He wouldn't be stopping in an Internet café to update his status." - says Drew Goodmanson

ROBERTS: Unlike many of the rabbis and popular philosophers of his day, Jesus didn't sit back and wait for people to come to him. Rather, he spoke to people where they were, both literally and figuratively.

SAYS MICHAEL HORTON: Jesus doesn't have a Facebook page. He doesn't "friend" and "unfriend" at the click of a botton. He doesn't offer anonymous advice. ...The gospel is not just information. Like all common gifts, technology requires wisdom and discernment. There is a time and place for everything

I think Facebook would simply be another tool. I think Jesus would be using phone, text and other mediums as He deemed best effective to the individual. Some folks might only get a Tweet and it would change their lives forever while someone like the rich young ruler, who got a face-to-face meeting and dialogue, departs from Jesus deeply grieved and unchanged. It is apparent that Jesus will do both whatever it takes and only the best approach for each individual - Evan

Jesus would definitely have used Facebook and Twitter, says bishop - Yahoo! OMG!

http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/news/jesus-definitely-used-facebook-twitter-says-bishop-060814601.html

Jesus Christ would have used social media like Facebook and Twitter to spread the Good News, a bishop (Robert Zollitsch) told a German newspaper this week. HE SAID : "he believes Christ would have taken "unusual routes" to reach out to people."...all media are suited to bring the word of God to the people," he said.

Pope Benedict XVI himself has his own Twitter account, @Pontifex, with over 1.3 million followers despite having so far sent only 14 tweets as of December 26.

THIS IS ME

Webster's Dictionary defines a selfish person as
one "concerned excessively or exclusively
with oneself." A secondary definition is:
"seeking or concentrating on one's own
advantage, pleasure, or well-being
without regard for others."

The apostle Paul describes people
in the end times as "lovers of self,
lovers of money, proud, arrogant,
abusive, disobedient to their parents,
ungrateful, unholy" (2 Timothy 3:2).
If that doesn't describe the world today,
I don't know what does.

http://www.backtothebible.org/images/stories/pdf/Selfishness.pdf

Everybody is bound to be selfish at one time or another.
It's just typical of human nature. From the time we were
able to want something, our selfish nature has been
hurting other people - Woodrow Kroll

"the amazing thing,
truly selfish people don't even
know they are being selfish"

Some people think selfishness is a good thing
and that if you follow the example of Christ
and put the needs of others above your own,
you're a sucker and a fool. But all who would
live a godly life, one in which we are becoming
more each day like our unselfish Savior, need
to view selfishness as something
to deal with seriously.

Fiscal cliff

THE MENTAL CLIFF

I  knew we would not go over the FISCAL CLIFF said one guy... Yah but now we all bout to go over the "mental cliff".

I have a good friend in Boston whose big fear as he now approaches retirement is that he may become senile - lose his mind. So, the mental cliff... Alzheimer's ?  Maybe....Well, what about the Lanza kid? Someone asks.

I personally think that we cannot logically explain everything. If you think about it... Don't take too long before you get to the point where whatever it is you are trying 'to prove'.... You can't prove it !!

So I've found whenever I get to this MENTAL CLIFF...the only way out is to "take the leap of faith".

SATURATION

I first came across this word in high school.

The state or process that occurs when no more of something can be absorbed, combined with, or added.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11 KJV)

MODERN MULTI -MEDIA

The mission
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deuteronomy 6:6, 7 KJV)
