AHAB'S ISSUE

the whole house of
Ahab shall perish

"I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the Lord."

the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.

1. Ahab the son of Omri reigned
over Israel in Samaria twenty
and two years.

2. Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him.

3. he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

4. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

5. there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

6. his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly. Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the Lord like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.

A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

the Lord hath a controversy with this people > the rich > are full of violence, and > have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
