Power shift

CLOCKED - the 4th wav

The slavery system & the secular city
It is an extreme form of inequality in which some individuals are owned by others as their property.

The slave owner has full control including using violence over the slave.

L.T Hobhouse defined slave as a man whom law and custom regard as the property of another.

In extreme cases he is wholly without rights. He is in lower condition as compared with freemen.

The slaves have no political rights he does not choose his government, he does not attend the public councils.

Socially he is despised. He is compelled to work. The slavery system has existed sporadically at many times and places.

Masters

BORN FREE !!!

Slavery - being subject to the will of another?

I found myself today scolding six year old grandson about using the word 'capture'.

I was telling him it was a bad word as he informed me of his intentions as he was gathering ants in the backyard.

I tried to persuade him that the ants needed to go home to their parents.

He vehemently disagreed and continued his reckless invasion into the life of the little biters.

He informed me that they were not as innocent as I thought and that he was on the scene to subject them to a fate as yet to be determined.

I cast about desperately in my ancient mind for a way to save the little ants from this mindless tyranny.

Out of nowhere it hit me like a bolt of lightning; ANT-FARMING!!!!

https://youtu.be/pmHYYchcmiw

I tried to convince the new ant dictator that he could in fact create a pleasant home for these ants where they would be much happier than they were now, under his brutal regime.

As I approach this seventieth decade,

I am learning many 'new' lessons.

UNRESOLVED

Was slavery ever abolished?

Do we have an innate drive to 'mastery'?

Although we may be born free, can we ever be 'totally' free from the will of others? Are there degrees of 'so-called' enslavement? Is slavery inherently evil?

Slaves and Masters

(1 Timothy 6:1-2)

5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

THE BULL, THE BEAR & the dragon

Love for Brothers

1Let brotherly love continue. 2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. 4Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Jesus Christ is the Same

5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

7Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever

Even those of us who have vaguely heard of the name Baal in the Bible know that it doesn't have a good connotation.

It seems we can't go five seconds into the Old Testament without God condemning the worship of Baal.

Baal took the shape of a bull or ram

Of all the foreign gods the Israelites came into contact with, they appeared to struggle the most with worshipping this one.

One of the most famous instances of Israel going head to head with the prophets of Baal comes from 1 Kings 18.

Scripture has nothing positive to say about Baal. Most often, it condemns Baal worship, and any example of Israel going after Baal leads to their loss of direction, and ultimately, scattering at the hands of the Assyrians and the Babylonians.

God established the law, including laws against eating pork, since pig slaughter and sacrifice was a hallmark of Baal worship.

MODERN DAY ABORTION?

Evil practices never go away. They simply evolve. Baal transformed into Zeus who transformed in Jupiter, etc.

Baal worship also included, at times, child sacrifice, which we see some Israelite kings engaging with later on.

Despite God's efforts to dissuade them, the Israelites engaged with the Canaanite culture a little too much and adopted their practices, including Baal worship.
