BORN FREE !!!
Slavery - being subject to the will of another?
I found myself today scolding six year old grandson about using the word 'capture'.
I was telling him it was a bad word as he informed me of his intentions as he was gathering ants in the backyard.
I tried to persuade him that the ants needed to go home to their parents.
He vehemently disagreed and continued his reckless invasion into the life of the little biters.
He informed me that they were not as innocent as I thought and that he was on the scene to subject them to a fate as yet to be determined.
I cast about desperately in my ancient mind for a way to save the little ants from this mindless tyranny.
Out of nowhere it hit me like a bolt of lightning; ANT-FARMING!!!!
I tried to convince the new ant dictator that he could in fact create a pleasant home for these ants where they would be much happier than they were now, under his brutal regime.
As I approach this seventieth decade,
I am learning many 'new' lessons.
UNRESOLVED
Was slavery ever abolished?
Do we have an innate drive to 'mastery'?
Although we may be born free, can we ever be 'totally' free from the will of others? Are there degrees of 'so-called' enslavement? Is slavery inherently evil?

Slaves and Masters
5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
