TheYears

While I served at the children’s home on the property in Havendale, Jamaica part of my assignment was to drive Major Avis and the children to the weekly Thursday evening meeting in Central Kingston.

A memory has stayed with me from the mid 1980’s. It was not just another Thursday evening meeting. Cadets were visiting and one particular cadet (IT) was featured in a romantic story involving her future husband’s visit.

Ten plus years rolled by and the couple shows up again now with a newborn, their 3rd child. This couple (Greg & Irene) “The Normans” would become our lifelong friends for the next 30+ years. We worked together, played together, both our children became like family. We stuck together through “thick and thin”.

Now we look towards our senior years, we see grandchildren, we enjoy retirement and this almost enchanting scenery on the southern coast of Connecticut marks another major milestone in our lives as we celebrate the marriage of their second child.

Scripture (Proverbs 17:17) tells us that
New Heart English Bible A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.

There is no other way to describe the relationship that we share with the Normans. May God continue to bless us as we journey
together in Him.
