FAIL

Last night our car batteries failed. It was raining, thunder and lightning....you get the picture. Both vehicles in different places at the same time!

I remember a while ago when there was a major airline accident in new york. Many lives were lost. After months of investigation we were told that the cause of the accident was CATASTROPHIC MECHANICAL FAILURE.

What happens when our brakes fail?
At the very least we are at risk of losing CONTROL.

What happens when our heart fails?
We are at risk of losing our LIFE.

What happens when our faith fails?
I think at the very least we are at risk of losing our mind or at least our direction.

While the disciples were praying "Lord increase our faith"....the Lord was 'praying' that their faith would not fail.

So we know at least two things about faith:
1. that it can increase or decrease
2. that it can fail.

The bible says that "the just shall live by faith".
Jesus said every man lives not just by food (bread alone) but by "every word that comes from God".

I beleive that every person in the world beleives something.
Not everyone can articulate or clearly speak their beleifs.
Our behaviour, however, is ALWAYS influenced by our beleifs or FAITH.

The central idea in any human beleif system is wether or not they beleive that they need GOD. For the ones who do KNOW the God of the bible the question becomes how much we THINK (beleive) we can do without God.

The bible clearly states that it is not possible to do ANYTHING without God.

Our faith therefore begins to fail when we begin to function independently of GOD. This is the nature of pride.

THE RICH PEOPLE and
THE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE are most at risk.
The one because they depend on what they HAVE and the other because they depend on what/who they KNOW.

Jesus said it is difficult for the rich to enter the kingdom of God.
and the Bible says the righteous are scarcely saved.

PRAYER: Lord Please help me today to be totally dependent on you and to be thankful for EVERY "little thing"

AMEN
