Liberties
Romans 14:3 gives the instruction, "Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not."
There are things that different Christians respond to in different ways due to the limit of their knowledge or the scope of their background. (STANDARDS?)
The word despise means "to make of no account." It would carry the idea of the stronger Christian making the weaker feel inferior, or less of a Christian, because of their more restrictive decision to not eat meats.
"the strong believers understood the freedom they had in Christ; the weak were ones who were more restrictive due to the limitations of a misinformed conscience"
. . . "the last part of Romans 14:3 warns the weaker Christian, "let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth." The biblical usage of the word "judge" in this context would be "to pronounce an opinion concerning right or wrong" or "to pronounce judgment and subject to censure."
The weak were not to stand in the place of God, passing judgment as pointed out in the next verse, "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand." (Romans 14:4). It is then reinforced in verse 12, "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God."
A KEY PHRASE/CONCEPT: "to engage in liberties they are not ready to exercise" ***

THE WRONG
CONCLUSION
Compelling evidence?
I once heard an older man say
"whenever you begin to
think truth, you are
IN ERROR".
We elevate ourselves with our reasonings. We make ourselves. We are our own god. We use our words to create 'realities' that become our world. IDOLATRY is when we think that the reality that we make is all there is. I can only know what I know. You can only know what you know. There is no need for me to convince you of anything or vice versa. Feel free to tell your story.
IS THERE A NEED TO BEBUNK OR DISPROVE THE OTHER GUY?

I like it . . . he said this:
"we bristle at preaching that minimizes God's work and maximizes man's effort".
"an artificial list of holiness based on personal preferences"
We love expository preaching. We desire to expose what the Bible is actually saying! We loathe the practice of twisting a scripture to fit a preconceived idea
takes great interest in being true to the original intent of the author. This is why we dismiss preachers who continually misappropriate the very Word of God. At best these men are naïve, at worst they are knowingly prostituting the Word for personal profit.
Not only do they separate from godly leaders outside of our denomination they actively attack fellow independents. This has led our movement to divide into splinter camps of varying influence and size
They also want uniformity in personal convictions and preferential issues like worship style, service scheduling, building design, and pulpit attire. To question the status quo brings suspicion. To express disagreement brings swift separation
the world is going to hell, and if we are going to reach them it is going to take a wide range of doctrinally sound churches that are going to look extremely different from one another. This is not only acceptable it is preferable
"our proclivity toward the inane practice of 2nd degree, 3rd degree, and 4th degree separation . . . I will be discussing this odd practice in an upcoming post called: THE SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION ! "
Fear will lead a man to say what he doesn't believe in order to please a critic. Fear will cause a man to sacrifice transparency at the altar of influence. Fear will keep a man quiet when he ought to speak but he will call it discretion
speaking the truth is rewarding, expressing your position is freeing, and saying what you really think is tremendously liberating. Transparency doesn't seem to limit influence it seems to expand it
1 Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
No pride should be taken in ignorance. We should primarily be well read in the Scriptures for they contain what is needed for a life and ministry. But we should also be well read in history, science, literature, leadership, and pop culture
Jesus Christ. We hold the solution to the world's problems and we are ready to give Him away. We are willing to do anything it takes to please our Lord and advance His Kingdom.

Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested." (1 Chronicles 4:10)
He wanted his life to be what God eternally purposed it to be. He wanted to be in on what God truly desired to do with his life.
He wanted the heart not just the stuff. He wanted to walk with God through life, not just to "get stuff from God."
He took a different path. He made different choices, and God described him as "more honourable" than his peers. He chose God. He chose a life of honor toward God. He chose a life of worship, obedience, and devotion. http://bit.ly/21jNnj2

I somehow think about the person who come to our house from the bank. THE APPRAISER.
He said he was there to see what our house was really WORTH. The bank needed to know the VALUE of the property.
Sooo. . . when I praise Him I understand His VALUE to me; without Him I am zero zilch nada nothing !
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Him that is weak in the faith receive, but not to doubtful disputations.
For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. - Romans 14:1, 7
We often think of life support
in terms hospitalization and sophisticated equipment
connected to a sick patient.
Do you know how long you
would live without water?
Many people would literally die overnight without takings meds.
How about people. Are there people in your life that you "could not live without"?
Or just simple people . . .
At the barbershop or
The grocery store
NOW IS THE TIME
TO LET THEM
KNOW.
Peace, perfect peace, by thronging duties pressed?
To do the will of Jesus, this is rest.
Peace, perfect peace, with sorrows surging round?
On Jesus' bosom naught but calm is found.
Peace, perfect peace, with loved ones far away?
In Jesus' keeping we are safe, and they.
Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown?
Jesus we know, and He is on the throne.
Peace, perfect peace, death shadowing us and ours?
Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers.

Stumbling?
Steadying?
Slain !
Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth, his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.
And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God." - 1 Chronicles 13:9-10
All around us we see the "stumbling oxen" in our communities and in lives of our loved ones and friends. The timeless "institutions" of God like the family and the church seem unsteady. We think they may fail.
. . . but we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. ◄ 2 Corinthians 4:7 ►

Bad_evil_wrong
EVIL is simply ill WILL.
Natural events are beyond
the control of individual
human will.
free will is the defining
human characteristic.
The only forbidden option
to man was defining good.
Whenever we attempt to
define good we make
ourselves "as God"
which was the lie
"promised" by
the serpent.
How is it possible for all of the following statements to be true at the same time:
(1) God is omnipotent (that is, all-powerful).
(2) God is omniscient (that is, all-knowing).
(3) God is perfectly good.
(4) Evil exists.
The existence of evil and suffering in our world seems to pose a serious challenge to belief in the existence of a perfect God.
If God were all-knowing, it seems that God would know about all of the horrible things that happen in our world. If God were all-powerful, God would be able to do something about all of the evil and suffering. Furthermore, if God were morally perfect, then surely God would want to do something about it. And yet we find that our world is filled with countless instances of evil and suffering. These facts about evil and suffering seem to conflict with the orthodox theist claim that there exists a perfectly good God. The challenged posed by this apparent conflict has come to be known as the problem of evil.
The "logic" of these kinds of arguments breakdown with the defining of good or evil.

I got chastised a lot too.
I can't remember which
started first. Neither
has stopped BTW.
I know this for sure it never mattered to me during the "chastisement" whether or if my parents loved me
or whether they were angry. In fact I did notice a couple of times that they did not seem angry. I was always too busy bawling !!! So, is this punishment, correction or vengeance? . . . and why it matters.
I DON'T KNOW
FOR SURE !
Do you?
"For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:"

"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers."

For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever." - Genesis 13:13, 15
"And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram. And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.
And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many; And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds; And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.
And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."

"And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them."

http://www.vtaide.com/gleanings/Kings-of-Israel/biography_David.html
"And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed. But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor. And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water; And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.
And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah. And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled. And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.
Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the Lord hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.
And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt." - 1 Samuel 30:1-4, 6, 8-12, 16-19, 23, 25, 31
