unreasonable?

Can I have Both?

The problem with faith is...
if I have an explanation
then I don't really need faith.
If I can explain it, then I don't need God.

WOW !!!

this is a slippery slope
I dont' really want to go there!!!

should I rather have Jesus? (sic)

trafficking in reason
is very empowering....
and knowledge puffeth up
heady...
high-minded...

on the other hand
biblical obedience and faith
can be quite humiliating....
or rather,
humbling

so, he is putting down my sister
i'll show him
I'll humiliate him !!!

love the ones who
are dispitefully using you and persecuting you...
this is so....
not reasonable !!

revenge is sweeter
i'll just call it being kind to the sister...

walking the natural walk....
is natural..I don't need God for that !

faith is impossible without God
and without faith...
it is impossible
to please God

vengance is mine
I will repay says God...

and...

if the enemy is hungry...for love...
feed him...love..God's love

if he is thirsty for caring
show him that you care....

this is impossible
unless...

God does it through me....
this is how I know for sure

that there is a God !!!

if we live in the spirit
let us also...
walk in the spirit.

PS.
I am not saying there is no explanation...
I just want to be careful that I have not
explained away my disobedience.

real

A close friend was the victim of a home invasion last year while her husband was at work and she was in the house with her 2-year-old. The intruder broke in through a downstairs window, rummaged through a few things on the first floor then walked upstairs to lock eyes with my friend and her daughter who calmly asked, "Mommy, who is that?"
It was only about 7 feet of space that separated my friend from a complete stranger in her own home. After a quick but intense mutual stare, the intruder scurried back down the stairs and out the front door. I got word of what happened and took action right away. Sad to say I jumped right into the arms of fear.
"You've gotta move to a new neighborhood. Houses are for sale in my subdivision...I'll start making calls..."
I thought I was helping them, but I was only parading my lack of faith. Yes I acknowledged God's grace. The situation could have been much worse. The intruder didn't get physical or violent; instead, he fled.
But because my faith was a no-show, I couldn't inspire faith in my friend. In an instant without flinching, I adamantly suggested they uproot the family and essentially "run" because the intruder could return to finish business.
While I spewed faith-void opinions, my friend's neighbor stepped forth to deposit this more sound advice:
"Here's where you prove what you say you believe. Your faith in God must now become more than words. Is it your reality?"
That question ended up shaking me out of my foolishness. Even though it was my friend's experience, the whole ordeal felt just as scary for me. I lost sleep over it before finally realizing I needed the wake-up call. Spiritually, I wasn't where I thought I was.
It was emotionally challenging for them, but my friends decided to focus on moving the family forward. They embraced the small miracle that no one was hurt, repaired their window, installed an alarm system and continued on with their lives...stronger, more thankful and certainly more faithful.
It's cool to be faith-filled when things are going good. But in the greatest time of need, what is your reality: Faith or fear?

"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith." (2 Corinthians 13:5)

FAMILY CHRONICLE: Saving our boys
BOYZ2MEN

Why Men Hate Going to Church

By David Murrow

Murrow, a television writer and producer, asks and effectively answers the question: "What is it about modern Christianity that is driving men away?" Just 35% of American men say they attend church weekly, he reports, and women make up more than 60% of the typical congregation on a given Sunday. Murrow contends that the church caters to women, children and the elderly by creating a safe, predictable environment. This alienates anyone fond of risk taking, including young men and women, but men are affected most. In order to reach men, Murrow suggests, churches must "adjust the thermostat" to embrace the masculine spirit: let men lead; give them tasks; encourage pastors to show strength and teach men through object lessons, letting them discover truth for themselves. Two of the best outreach methods: start rigorous mentoring programs and help men make friends with other men.

"the real world,"

1. The Forces We Face

Ephesians 6:10-13: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

GOD IS NOT INTERESTED IN RELIGION, but He is tremendously interested in life.

MY LIFE & YOUR LIFE

You cannot read the New Testament without realizing that the Lord Jesus did not hesitate to break the Sabbath regulations of His day when those regulations violated the real need of a broken human being for healing. God is not nearly so interested in stained-glass windows, organ music, congregational hymns, or pastoral prayers as He is in producing love-filled homes, generous hearts, and brave men and women who can live godly lives in the midst of a dark and evil world. His goal for our lives is that we be people of undefiled minds and undefiled hearts, living and projecting His truth and His character in a sin-ridden world.

I am deeply convinced that we can only understand life when we see it as the Bible sees it. That is why the Word of God was given to open our eyes to God's perspective on life and reality. The world we see all around us the world of entertainment and nightly news and instant information on the Internet, and political infighting and social upheaval that is a world of illusion. Though we usually call it "the real world," it is a facade that is destined to fade away. What God calls reality is something that exists beyond the flimsy walls of this world, and it is far more real and lasting than our so-called "real world." Our eyes and minds are constantly deceived by the distorted perspectives, twisted beliefs, false values, and temporary programs of this dying world. READ MORE

Funeral arrangements have been made for Friday, October 2nd here in Houston, Texas.

15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.

what are your intentions

cricket lovely cricket
I just came through a brutal time at work
18 hour work days etc....
it was too much a couple of saturdays ago
so  although I left home for work...I just couldn't face
the office...I diverted to the park
SHAZAMM !!!

a cricket match was in progress
I watched for a few hours....
it all came flooding back

it must have been at least ten years
since I had seen a cricket match

the batsman settled down at the crease
the captain was adjusting the field
long on fielder was too deep

the square leg umpire sighted the wicket
and the wicket keeker stepped back and
crouched behind the stumps

the bowler went to his mark
turned and started his run up to the
wicket and delivered....it dropped
just short of a length and turned
into the batsman who leaned back and punched it
comfortably through the covers
they crossed for a quick single

then I thought all these sports are pretty much the same
some one is trying to do something
and someone else is trying to stop it.

Daddy liked to talk about sports
first there was cycle sports..at race course in the
early days....we could sometimes hear the shouts
from our home in Hampton Street....we could definately hear the
roar of the crowds from Sabina Park....that Wesley Hall was
something else...they said some of his deliveries
were in excess of 90 miles per hour....and they didn't
wear protective headgear back then....
and of course nothing got daddy more excited than
boxing.

So in addition to Politics and religion
I cannot ignore what seems to be Americas
number one obsession SPORTS

Malice

I was trying to remember when I first noticed that
they had stoppped talking to each other. I did
observe it in the fifth grade....the year of the hormone.
...but it only came home personally to me when I
was the victim of the silent treatment. I was
supervising a staff of five in a residential facility....and
being a little thick in the head from the start..I only
noticed after a couple days that I was being
ignored...it was quite a shocker...or lets just say a
new experience....thankfully I had not encountered
this phenomena during the going steady years.
...there just seemed to be so much to talk about
especially the many and thorough late-night-over-the
-phone movie reviews by the significant other.

******************

The next time I noticed the word malice it was in a
somewhat different context. Without even noticing I
had become interested in the judicial system
because maybe ...my sister was working a lot in "the
jugdes chamber" and was always telling exciting
tales / stories of/from "the bench". So I caught on
somehow the the phrase "with malice and forethought".

******************

Then of cousre I came across a reference in sunday school "let all malice be put away and be ye kind one to another tender-hearted forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you"

******************

THE FULL QUOTE
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
******************

I felt a new excitement today as I heard this:
I sought the Lord....
AND HE HEARD ME !!!

******************

I was excited because during the past weeks
we were studying at our sunday spot the sad fate
of the manic depressive suicidal saul...who we found
out had come to this condition because of his disobedience to God.

******************

A very terrifying point in the story was when he tried to pray to God and realized he was not being heard.

******************

A similar reference was made of Samson when he
shook himself as at other times not realizing that God had left him.

******************

a sobering warning regarding this is described in the Proverbs....explaing exactly why this can happen.

******************

23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Politics & Religion
seem to have become my main interests
...and I follow a program by that name run by Brother Baxter (google it)
it is interesting some of the things from the modern political arena
that he connects to the bible.....Endtime Magazine is the publication...
"
I knew God had called me to do this," says Baxter. "After a long talk with
my wife, Judy, I decided to go for it on my own.
What's the worst that could happen?"

From the beginning, Endtime was to explain the prophecies of the Bible and show that they are now being fulfilled. It's world events seen through the eyes of Bible prophecy.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with
such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

the Jewish New Year

My dear friend Ron,

Thank you for your kindness and generosity toward the work of the Lord.

My partners have been such a blessing, as millions have come to the cross because of your love for our precious Jesus, whom we both adore so deeply.

May we go to the ends of the earth and work to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ while it is still day!

Every time I stand before people and preach the Gospel, I am so overwhelmed by the privilege God has given me to go to the nations of the world.

What a privilege it has been to travel the past few months to places such as Tennessee, Texas, California, Venezuela, Florida, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Georgia, Ohio, Italy, England, Australia, New Zealand, Maryland, Uganda, South Africa, Congo, Indiana, Florida, Ukraine, Kansas, Costa Rica, and New York, where multitudes have heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and thousands upon thousands have been saved!

The burden in my heart for the lost has increased and intensified greatly, and God knew that in order for me to fulfill His call for the nations I would need dedicated, faithful saints ......

Tonight (Friday, September 18) at sunset is the start of the Jewish New Year---Rosh Hashanah. Tonight inaugurates the Year of Creation, 5770.

It is also the beginning of the Ten Days of Awe which culminate in Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

It is a time for reflecting on the choices…victories and short-comings…of the past year. It is a time of recommitment to the Lord for the year ahead. It is a time to acknowledge our need of repentance, to be more constant in prayer, and to regard the needs of others as superior to our own.

In Jewish tradition this is a time when the Lord inscribes His assessment of your year just past and the expectation of your year ahead. (Hence the traditional greeting: “May you be inscribed for a GOOD year!”) MORE HERE

Two of the most common questions about money are, “how much money do I have?,” and, “how can I get more money?” But understanding the system on which we depend for our livelihoods requires more foundational questions like, “what is money?” “how is money measured?” “what gives money its value?” and, “if money can be printed, why not print more?” CLICK HERE

The Doctor's Story

============================

continued from above

It is our duty, job, and privilege to travel to those places where those dear souls are crying out. It is our responsibility to tell them that Jesus Christ is the Answer.

We are called to preach the Gospel to them while it is still day, before it is eternally too late.

Jesus told His disciples, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4).

A hymn written by 18-year-old Anna Cogbill back in the 1800s continues to point toward the urgent need to reach the world for our Lord Jesus:

Work, for the night is coming,
Work through the sunny noon;
Fill brightest hours with labor,
Rest comes sure and soon.
Give every flying minute,
Something to keep in store;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man works no more.

Eternal nightfall is coming quickly. So many have never heard the Gospel, nor will they, unless someone tells them. Not all are able to watch our television program. Millions are too poor to buy a television set. We must go and tell them, and I am going says Pastor Benny Hinn HERE.

THE PET SCORPION

DEAR ABBY

we didn't know he had a stinger

we had him from a baby

we played with him and fed him all the time

we knew he was a scorpion

but we never saw him sting

today after all these years of petting

he stung me

I don't think he knew what he did

I went to the doctor

I still want to play with him as before

the doctor said I should kill him

I cant do that.....

 ********

a series just came to an end

at our sunday spot.

it ran for about 4 weeks

it was about a guy who killed himself

the presenter was trying to analyse

the guys life to see why he eventally

killed himself

 ***********

I seems like Connecticut has been swamped

with killing over the past few weeks

my friend ed came in to work all

agitated about a girl he knew who was

murdered and how she was a very

nice and quiet person....I kind of try

to put all this bad news out of my mind.

...but the next day he was talking about it again

this time he says they found a guy at the bottom

of the river....he had killed himself..it was the boyfriend

of the very nice quiet girl who was killed.

then there was the case of the official high up

in the city government who was found to

be another suicide.

now this week connecticut has been in the

spotlight on national news with another

needless death..the young yale student.

Ed told me that over two thousand people

attended the memorial for the lady.

then he went off into trying to figure out

why this guy would do such a thing

I told him I didn't know and wouldn't try

figuring it out now....ed was pretty certain

that this guy would go to HELL....

so I told ed that we should be telling people

that we know as much as we can that

they may not end up like this guy

 **************

I talk to ed a lot...I don't know if he is a christian

but he likes to talk about the big man upstairs.

 **************

so anyhow the pastor at the sunday spot

was telling the church people that

the reason King Saul in the bible

killed himself was because he

wouldn't listen to his pastor - Samuel

he became jealous of little David

and the real BIGGY

God told his pastor to tell him to

KILL THE SCORPION - Amalek

he never did it....completely

so this guy saul became more and more

miserable....

started makin a lot of bad decisions

like the time he was reading his horoscope

and went to get a psychic reading...

instead of listening to his pastor

 **************

any way you get the drift

the real sad part

was his family got messed up too

his kids got killed

Saving our boys

BOYS MAY be most at risk on this island: at risk of becoming involved in gangs, dropping out of school, ending up in prison and of being killed by the gun.
But not all of them are going down the gutter, thanks to police youth clubs which, with little resources, make a change in the lives of their community members.
Not many Jamaicans know, but well-known persons, such as former National Security Minister Dr Peter Phillips, former Police Commissioner Francis Forbes, the executive director of the Broadcasting Commission, Cordel Green, and even Olympic champion Donald Quarrie are products of vibrant police youth clubs.
There are 500 of these clubs islandwide, totalling some 12,000 members.....MORE HERE

who had been divorced and had some children of her own.

the children talk amonst themselves.....they share pains and hurt..
so this child who grabbed the paper from Robby was a friend of
one of the white ladies daughters who was hurting from the divorce.

THE SECOND STORY
earlier that same day another child
angrily told his mother in the presence of other adults
"I don't care.....as was later learned this was a flat out lie.
this child loved his mother..and cared much for her...but
his mom he thought had allowed him to be (divorced)
separated from his younger sister....

the children talk amonst themselves.....they share pains and hurt..
so this child took the oppurtunity to vent the anger....
and later in an unrelated story....the same child
would have to serve a saturday detention at school
for AGAIN mouthing off at a female teacher who had
"no right" to punish this child for mis-behavoiur

Uncle Paulie thinks that his disease was not going to be
cured by the doctor. He said that he was not sick.
He said the pain he was feeling was God trying to keep
him humble....this kind of attitude is not very helpful
for the healthcare industry...not to mention the Pharmaceutical
companies.

A Prayer for Release from Resentment

I found a copy of this prayer today. It was in a church bulletin from forever ago - at least 10 years.

A Prayer for Release from Resentment
by Peter Marshall

Lord Jesus, You know me completely. You know that I have steadily refused to forgive this one who has wronged me, yet have had the audacity often to seek Your forgiveness for my own wrongdoing.

The acids of bitterness and a vengeful spirit have threatened to eat away my peace. Yet I have stubbornly rationalized every unlovely motive. I have said, "I am clearly in the right. It is only human to dislike a few people. This one deserves no forgiveness." How well I know that neither have I ever deserved the forgiveness which You have always freely granted me.

So, Lord Jesus, I ask You now for the grace to forgive this hurt. Even now, I am divided about it, only partially willing to release it. But You can manage even my reluctance, my loitering feet. Take now my divided will and make it one piece, wholly Your will.

And Lord, I give to You this emotion of resentment which clings as if glued to my heart. Take it from me. Cleanse every petty thought. Make me sweet again.

I dare to ask that You will not forgive me to the extent that I have forgiven _____, but that You will bless _____ to the degree that You have blessed me. For these great mercies I thank You, in Your name, who gave me the supreme example in forgiving even those who crucified You. Amen.

My list of "unforgivens" is long...

My brother, a few former co-workers, a handful of church-folk, an ex-boyfriend (even now, I had to consciously resistant the urge to write "asshole ex-boyfriend").... and, to a great degree... myself.

May God have mercy on us all.

"Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God."  2 Corinthians 10:5
Deliverance from sin is not deliverance from human nature. There are things in human nature, such as prejudices, which the saint has to destroy by neglect; and other things which have to be destroyed by violence, i.e., by the Divine strength imparted by God's Spirit. There are some things over which we are not to fight, but to stand still in and see the salvation of God; but every theory or conception which erects itself as a rampart against the knowledge of God is to be determinedly demolished by drawing on God's power, not by fleshly endeavour or compromise (v. 4).
It is only when God has altered our disposition and we have entered into the experience of sanctification that the fight begins. The warfare is not against sin; we can never fight against sin: Jesus Christ deals with sin in Redemption. The conflict is along the line of turning our natural life into a spiritual life, and this is never done easily, nor does God intend it to be done easily. It is done only by a series of moral choices. God does not make us holy in the sense of character; He makes us holy in the sense of innocence, and we have to turn that innocence into holy character by a series of moral choices. These choices are continually in antagonism to the entrenchments of our natural life, the things which erect themselves as ramparts against the knowledge of God. We can either go back and make ourselves of no account in the Kingdom of God, or we can determinedly demolish these things and let Jesus bring another son to glory.

EATING FRUITS .......
It's long but very informative
We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.
What is the correct way of eating fruits?
IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.
In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.
;
So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining - every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet etc - actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!
Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will not happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.
There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.
When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.
But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!
KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.
APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.
STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.
ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.
WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system.. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.
GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.
Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can you believe this? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup, warm water or warm beer after a meal.
A serious note about heart attacks HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE': (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!) Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack . Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive...

scholarship fund

From Selma, with love

CALEDONIA, Westmoreland

The McCook family will target "deserving" students of high and secondary schools, particularly in Caledonia and generally in Westmoreland, through a recently-launched scholarship fund.

Speaking at the memorial service for the life of the late pastor Selma McCook at the Caledonia Assemblies of Holiness Church recently, chairman of the Selma McCook Foundation, Sam Mc Cook, said the funds will be administered by a board consisting of family and community members.

"Mother had a special love for children and always wanted to assist the children in Caledonia. She wanted to do something that would be an ongoing tribute to her, that would reflect her interest and action, and education was what she felt very strongly about," he said.

The criteria for getting the scholarships will include academic achievement; need; character and conduct, adding that applicants should also be attending Sunday School.

"These scholarships will be provided either on the basis of an application that is made (by individuals) or the recommendation of the Church," he said.

Pastor McCook who was remembered as a considerate, loving and caring individual served the Caledonia Assemblies of Holiness Church in Westmoreland for more than four decades.

She died on August 9, 2001.
Her children include:

. His Excellency Wayne McCook, Jamaican Ambassador to China;

. Pastor Sam McCook, of the Hope Fellowship Church, Kingston;

. Oral McCook, President of the Advertising Agencies Association of Jamaica and Managing Director of OGM Integrated;

. Robert McCook, Managing Director for Caledonia Enterprise;

. Beverly McCook, Advertising executive;

. Dale McCook, Church deacon and engineer, based in the USA.

Lysson's Special Education School is a school for children with learning disabilities on the campus of Lysson's Elementary School. Miss Pauline Nunes is the director. She has approximately 60 children enrolled. Besides being the head teacher at this school, Miss Nunes also serves as the pastor for two Pentecostal churches in the area. She has a great heart for these children, but needs much help. Many of the children come to school hungry and then have no lunch. They must choose between paying bus fare and eating. Miss Nunes, primarily at her own cost, feeds breakfast to these children two days per week. The schools have little equipment for learning. There is no television, VCR, or DVD player. Only one portable cassette/CD player is available for the four classes. When we asked Miss Nunes about a computer, she told us she only had one and needed more.

Miss Nunes says graduation day is the saddest day of the year, because every year, there are approximately 12-15 children approximately age 14 who graduate and are not able to enter another school. They must return home with no further education, no job training, and no future. She says many become the subject of abuse of various kinds. Miss Nunes dreams of a vocational training center to help her children. We pray that with God's help, support from others, and God's guidance, that we will be able to help develop a skill's training center for these children. We believe these are some of God's forgotten children.

The roof and ceiling are badly damaged allowing rain to pour in. Much of the ceiling and supporting timbers are rotten and/or have severe termite damage. In areas the roof is about to cave in. We will research this and pray about undertaking a repair.

refresh your memory....don't ignore this fact

"These are extraordinary times."(from the Jerehmiah Project)

An Associated Press writer asks, "Is everything spinning out of control?" A Wall Street Journal headline read, "Millennium Fever: Prophets Proliferate, The End is Near." A New York Times book review began, "Some 50 million Americans share a belief that these are the last days." Even the Chicago Tribune ran a front-page story about the end times in a recent Sunday edition.
Even the most seasoned newsmen who have "seen it all" are in awe of the world developments in recent years. All of them realize that something unique in the history of the world is happening today. And what's most stunning about it all is the breath-taking rapidity of these recent developments.

<< 2 Peter 3 >> GOD'S WORD ® Translation
1 Dear friends, this is the second letter I'm writing to you. In both letters I'm trying to refresh your memory. 2 I want you to remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and what the Lord and Savior commanded you through your apostles.
3 First, you must understand this: In the last days people who follow their own desires will appear. These disrespectful people will ridicule God's promise 4 by saying, "What's happened to his promise to return? Ever since our ancestors died, everything continues as it did from the beginning of the world." 5 They are deliberately ignoring one fact: Because of God's word, heaven and earth existed a long time ago. The earth appeared out of water and was kept alive by water. 6 Water also flooded and destroyed that world. 7 By God's word, the present heaven and earth are designated to be burned. They are being kept until the day ungodly people will be judged and destroyed.
8 Dear friends, don't ignore this fact: One day with the Lord is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. 9 The Lord isn't slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn't want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act.

REDEMPTION SONGS
'Tis almost time for the Lord to come,
I hear the people say;
The stars of heaven are growing dim,
It must be the breaking of the day.

Refrain

O it must be the breaking of the day!
O it must be the breaking of the day!
The night is almost gone,
The day is coming on;
O it must be the breaking of the day!

The signs foretold in the sun and moon,
In earth and sea and sky,
Aloud proclaim to all mankind,
The coming of the Master draweth nigh.

Refrain

It must be time for the waiting church
To cast her pride away,
With girded loins and burning lamps,
To look for the breaking of the day.

Refrain

Go quickly out in the streets and lanes
And in the broad highway,
And call the maimed, the halt, and blind,
To be ready for the breaking of the day.

Refrain

The Silent Harvest
Francis Frangipane Ministries

Ministries of Francis Frangipane   September 3, 2009

We realize that this word from Pastor Frangipane has been posted a
couple times in the past. Yet the Holy Spirit prompts us at key
seasons to resend it, reminding us there are others today who need
its message.

The Silent Harvest
By Francis Frangipane

A few years ago, I had a dream in which I found myself inside the
mind of a dying man. The man had been in a coma for some time; his
family had been praying, but they did not know whether or not he had
accepted Christ. All they were sure of is that, throughout his life,
he had resisted their efforts to lead him to Christ.

In the dream, I became so acutely aware of the man's state of mind
that his thoughts, feelings and struggles almost seemed my own.
Although his eyes were nearly closed and his vision clouded, he
could see his loved ones at his bedside. I watched as he tried to
reach toward his family, but outwardly his arm never lifted.
Perceiving his thoughts, I heard him speak their names, but no sound
whispered through his lips. A loved one holding his hand asked, "If
you hear me, squeeze." He heard and pressed his fingers against
hers, but no movement was seen; his hand clearly remained limp. He
was conscious, he could hear their prayers, he felt the warmth of
their kisses on his face, but was perfectly incapable of responding.

The pride and isolation that had, throughout his life, stood guard
over his heart were gone. A physical catastrophe had overtaken him.
Death approached, and he knew he was unprepared for eternity.
Submerged beneath his motionless exterior, a war had raged for his
soul, which the Lord won. Subdued by the relentless force of God's
love, he was finally at peace. It was during his time in the
hospital that he had silently prayed and accepted Christ as his
Savior. I was watching his last effort to tell them as life ebbed
out of his body.

Suddenly, monitoring alarms ripped through the muffled silence of
the room. His heart beat one last time and I found myself looking
down at the body of a man who had just died. The room was buzzing
with nurses, while his family huddled in a corner, grieving. The
idea of their loved one dying without receiving Christ was more
devastating than the reality of death itself. I stirred and then
woke. Yet, just as I left the dream, the Lord spoke to my heart:

"Tell them he's with Me."

God is Good
Although some time has passed since I first had this dream, I am
increasingly aware that many of God's people carry a deep abiding
heartache concerning the death of an unsaved loved one. Obviously,
this dream does not apply to all, but there are some for whom this
experience is divinely directed. Thus, I submit this to you in a
general sense, because the Holy Spirit has assured me He will bear
witness to your heart that this word is for you.

I have also felt an urgency to pass this dream on to you. The Lord
has an important work for you. However, the enemy has used this
unresolved loss to sow doubt into your soul. Not only are you
troubled about your deceased loved one, but you are carrying doubts
about God's love, and you doubt also the power of prayer. Your
confidence in God has been compromised. Yet, it is precisely at this
time that you need to stand without doubt for other members of your
family.

Beloved, though there are many questions about the mysteries of
life, we must not let the unknown obscure the face of the known: God
is good. We know God loves us because He sent His Son to die for our
sins. Indeed, Jesus said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father"
(John 14:9). When we look at Christ, we see God, and we know that
God cares.

Additionally, some of us have lost loved ones in sudden tragedies,
where they seemingly had no time to repent or turn to God. Let me
remind you of those who have faced near-death experiences. They tell
of seeing their "life flash before [their] eyes." Indeed, they say
that time itself seem to stop or move into slow motion. I believe
that, even in what seemed like a "sudden" death, time slowed to a
crawl. According to their testimonies, evidently, there often is
enough time in this altered state to see and ponder one's entire
life - and to make a decision or even call upon the name of the Lord.

In spite of what we do not know about life's many mysteries, one
thing remains eternally true: God is our loving Father. He does not
desire that any man perish, and He will fight to save us, even to
the moment of our death. Let us, therefore, cast our burdens upon
the Lord, for He genuinely cares for us. And let us again run with
endurance the race set before us, for He has promised that even for
those "sitting in the . . . shadow of death, upon them a light
dawned" (Matt. 4:16).

Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for my sins. Lord, there are many
issues I do not know, but I do know that You are good. Those things
I do not understand, I give to You. I trust You with my life, and I
put in Your hands the care of those I love.
