Steve

There is no attention deficit
I just spent over an hour doing math problems in the math lab.

It was incredibly unpleasant or to use your word, annoying. I was able to concentrate.

The problem was I didn't "want to".

So yes, perseverance is making yourself DO IT !!!

Now I'm back in the library.
Reading is easier. I developed the habit (persistence) when I was younger. The problem is, this particular book (prescribed reading) is disgusting, PERIOD !!

So once again I must force myself through at least an hour of this.

It is the end of week 5.
Reality is setting in. I need to stay off the computers!

Do the math ONLY in the Lab and use the library for reading.

I am reconstructing.
I still love writing my blogs
but I can't spend time on the computers.

The name of the game now is discipline.

PS Thanks for the listening ear

BTW, you were right these professors are not your friends, they can destroy you !

Nobody is really your friend ?

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. - James 1:12

THEY APPLAUDED the return to school. The thing reported as pleasant may not always be. To get the infants to swallow the bitter medicine we tell them it is good.
THIS IS THE TEST.

"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed

For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh."

CONTRARY & DISRUPTIVE

ARGUMENTATIVE ?

In some assemblies Doctrine is preached; in others Doctrine is suggested. Are Laws suggestions?

If they have, is it for

REVELATION vs OBSERVATION

"And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:"‭‭ - Luke‬ ‭17:20‬

If the goal of science is knowledge in order to "control" human reality the New Testament world of Jesus demonstrates an ability to manipulate and control human reality without the benefit of "scientific" knowledge.

Jesus clearly demonstrates the existence of non-scientific knowledge by the performance of multiple "miracles".

Jesus brought a message to the world of an other-worldy "kingdom" and He left those who would believe and follow Him a legacy of revelation knowledge and power to change this world.

He taught us to pray "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

_____________

Professors in secular schools seem committed to science as the only source of knowledge.

So-called "Revelation" they say, must be relegated to the realm of superstition. If it is not "empirically verifiable" they say; then it is not "rationally defensible".

Christian Faith, they say, is irrelevant. Science marches on, creating 'brave new worlds'. These "gods of this world" continue to "blind the minds" of unbelieving ones in secular schools and colleges worldwide.

RIGHTS (the "revelation")

Rights are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom or entitlement; that is, rights are the fundamental normative rules about what is allowed of people or owed to people, according to some legal system, social convention, or ethical theory. - WIKI

THE UNITED NATIONS
http://bit.ly/M7s8YS

Kings and nobility historically were the origin of authority, and they granted rights and privileges to their subjects. The people held their liberties were dependent upon the pleasure of the rulers.

Nevertheless, America boldly proclaimed at its birth that some rights were endowed by man's very nature – and that individuals are incapable of relinquishing them. Because these rights are endowed in people from Nature's God, they are inherent in each individual and cannot be abandoned – in other words, such rights are unalienable.

In other words, "the sacred rights of mankind," Alexander Hamilton observed, "are not to be rummaged for among old parchments or musty records. They are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of divinity itself, and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power."

Breakdown

RAMBLING

SOCIALIZATION: a continuing process whereby an individual acquires a personal identity and learns the norms, values, behavior, and social skills appropriate to his or her social position.

The act of adapting behavior to the norms of a culture or society is called socialization. Socialization can also mean going out and meeting people or hanging out with friends. The word socialization can mean "the process of making social."

A new word I heard; trying to figure it out - THEOGENY & "the public square". - Tension & Conflicts ?

THE FAMILY
THE CHURCH
THE DISCIPLE
THE KINGDOM
THE NATION

Could the fallacy of the papacy be based on the violation of a foundational principle ?

The entire leadership of the Roman 'church'; the priests, the cardinals and the pope are not the husbands "of one wife".

It is fairly common knowledge that The Lord created the family before he created the church. It is not, however, as commonly acknowledged that successful leadership in the church (and the community) is contingent on the success of the home and the family.

I was recently advised by my pastor to (forget the 'other stuff') "go take care of your family". . . the implication: everything else will be OK. It seemed a little simplistic at first, yet it is proving over time to be a 'key' mental health strategy. lol

The other suggestion was that I be involved in a "discipling" process/program. On the surface it appeared to be just another 'good tip'. It is however, turning out to be going directly to the heart of a chronic problem: discipline.

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." - Luke‬ ‭14:26‬
PRETTY ROUGH STUFF !!!!

ALL AUTHORITY IS
MORAL AUTHORITY

THE PRIMARY PRINCIPLE
OF LIFE IS LOVE

"And when the ark of the covenant of the Lord came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.

And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore."‭‭ - 1 Samuel‬ ‭4:5, 7‬ ‭

Moral uncertainty leads
to moral confusion

As the US continues to sink into moral confusion on domestic policy it's influence in the world has diminished. There no longer exists the moral will to project the power of military might. Like Samson in the bible story our moral failing at "home" is the real source of our impotence on the world stage.

"And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him."

"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever."
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭11:15‬ ‭

"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers."

"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."

"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28:13‬ ‭

"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

"And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram. And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.

And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many; And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds; And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them."

"And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed. But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor. And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water; And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.

And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah. And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled. And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.

Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the Lord hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.

And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.

And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt."‭‭ - 1 Samuel‬ ‭30:1-4, 6, 8-12, 16-19, 23, 25, 31‬ ‭

    Catering to the culture

A culture is a way of life of a group of people--the behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that they accept, generally without thinking about them, and that are passed along by communication and imitation from one generation to the next.

"No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully."‭‭ - 2 Timothy‬ ‭2:4-5‬ ‭

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us."
    ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:15-16, 19‬
