Could it be that not every one knows what is really going on?

Did president Obama call you up

What I like about stories
is that they don't have to be either logical, reasonable or factual.

A lot of what we beleive is also

2. not factual – observable, measurable, testable

3. not logical – clear and consistent

We had a sub again today for Sunday school
The sub is charlie...the regular guy bob is an
accountant who also has a law practice.
Anyhow, bob usually teaches about the
bible and money management - personal finances...
The sub however somehow keeps teaching from
the book of proverbs...this morning however i was late
and got in just in time to hear him going through kings and
chronicles..so I don't know how he got there but I suspect
that he got off on a little of solomon's history......I kinda got
caught up in it and started reading some more....it seems to
me that God used to give people messages for the king...the
phrase "But the word of God came unto the man of God, saying,"

Despite a 15 percent rise in the U.S. population, a new survey
shows the number of Americans who don't go to church has nearly
doubled in the past 13 years, rising from 39 million to 75 million.

http://www.barna.org/barna-update/article/18-congregations/45-new-
statistics-on-church-attendance-and-avoidance

The report by the Barna Group, a California-based consulting firm
following trends related to faith, culture and leadership in the country,
says the percentage of adults that is "unchurched" has risen from 21
percent in 1991 to 34 percent today.
The study also revealed other disturbing findings. Four out of 10
Christians do not attend church or read the Bible in a typical week,
while seven out of 10 are not involved in a small group that meets for
spiritual purposes. The report also confirmed that there are more than
10 million Christians who are unchurched.

Pope Benedict XVI has made another controversial appointment by
elevating to the position of bishop an Austrian pastor who said
Hurricane Katrina

that year was "divine retribution" for New Orleans' permissive

What are the meanings, for example, of these instructions

Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you,
who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow,
considering the end of their conversation.
Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and
submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that
must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with
grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Hebrews 13:24 Salute all them that have the rule over you,

FURTHERMORE consider this:

"If any one is eager to have the oversight of a Church, he desires a
noble work." 2 A minister then must be a man of irreproachable
character, true to his one wife, temperate, sober-minded, well-behaved,
hospitable to strangers, and with a gift for teaching; 3 not a drinker nor
given to blows; not selfish or quarrelsome or covetous; 4 but ruling his
own household wisely and well, with children kept under control
with true dignity.

It is not totally impossible that there

Common Sense

common sense is not faith, and faith is not common sense. In fact, they are as different as the natural life and the spiritual. Can you trust Jesus Christ where your common sense cannot trust Him? Can you venture out with courage on the words of Jesus Christ, while the realities of your commonsense life continue to shout, "It's all a lie"? When you are on the mountaintop, it's easy to say, "Oh yes, I believe God can do it," but you have to come down from the mountain to the demon-possessed valley and face the realities that scoff at.....READ THE REST HERE

I am about to make. ... where will this latest choice

The human will is the hardest thing to control.
no wonder the Lord said
IF any two agree....it is difficult !!!

AMALEK - a relative of Esau
the preacher a few weaks ago was talking about king
Saul and how he committed suicide.
I was wondering what were the choices he was making
along the way that led up to that point.

so I started checking the entiire book of samuel
the startling thing that I noticed was how often
the phrase THE PEOPLE came up.

what was it that made him not totally destroy the amalekites
as he was tasked to do.

well, it is the same problem that every leader has.
wether you are the leader of a family or a platoon of soldiers
or a classroom of children or the leader of the senate
banking committee.

you will be required to make unpopular choices
will you choose based on what you know to be right
or will you allow your choice to be influenced by
THE PEOPLE you are responsible to lead.

Joshua is another leader that comes to mind
He was told to carry out a rather STUPID plan.
He made the people do it....march around in a circle
for 7 days. Abraham was about to murder his son
claiming that God told him to do it...I dont think
that would have gone over too well with his wife if
she had the choice. Daniel chose to face the Lions
knowing full well of the bloody possibilities.

How about you?
have your choices been.....people pleasing, rational,
pleasnt options...have you backed away from
the tough right choices?

Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God's command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel's band!

Refrain

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Many mighty men are lost
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host
By joining Daniel's band.

Refrain

Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking through the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel's band.

Refrain

Hold the Gospel banner high!
On to vict'ry grand!
Satan and his hosts defy,
And shout for Daniel's band.

IT WAS A WARM, QUIET SUNDAY MORNING on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The date was December 7, 1941. Out of a clear blue sky, swarms of growling aircraft descended. Suddenly, all around Pearl Harbor, ships erupted into flames and billows of oily black smoke. Within those ships, men died without a moment's warning some even asleep in their bunks.

Aboard the cruiser New Orleans, a chaplain named Howell M. Forgy helped a group of crewmen break into a locked ammunition storeroom so the ship could mount a defense. Once Chaplain Forgy and the other men got inside, they discovered that the ammunition hoist was out of commission. So Chaplain Forgy and the other men formed a human chain, like a bucket brigade, passing the heavy artillery shells from man to man up to the gun deck.

The shells were heavy and the work was hard and discouraging, and it had to be carried on amid the smell of smoke and the sound of human screams and roaring planes and exploding bombs. Chaplain Forgy saw that some of the men's arms were weakening and their faces showed signs of hopelessness. So he pasted a broad smile on his face, slapped the back of the man next to him, and shouted, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!"

This story was later retold, and the chaplain's words became the opening lines of a popular wartime song that lifted the spirits of an entire nation at war.

You and I face much the same situation today. We are under heavy attack a spiritual and moral attack and the devastation of this spiritual war is all around us in our society, our government, our universities, our entertainment media, our neighborhoods, our families, our churches, and our own lives. There are wounded people all around us, and we ourselves have been pierced by the fiery arrows of our enemy. To survive and to win, we must mount a strong defense and engage the enemy in battle. We must learn to "praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!"

And who is this enemy who is trying to destroy us?

Our Lord is our example of a life of self-sacrifice, and He perfectly exemplified Psalm 40:8, "I delight to do Your will, O my God . . . ." He endured tremendous personal sacrifice, yet with overflowing joy.
* If He is not the One to whom I am looking for direction and guidance, then there is no benefit in my sacrifice.
* Beware of letting your natural desires hinder your walk in love
* " Our friendship with Jesus is based on the new life He created in us, which has no resemblance or attraction to our old life but only to the life of God
* One of the cruelest ways to kill natural love is through the rejection that results from having built the love on natural desires.

"Mom, what's that awful smell in the garage?" Courtney asked when she got home from school.

"It's the trash," replied Mom. "The city garbage collectors are still on strike."

"Can't we take it away ourselves?" asked Courtney.

Mom sighed. "We'll have to if they don't get back to work soon," she said. "For now, we'll keep the kitchen door closed."

"And when I go out, I'll use the front door instead of going through the garage!" declared Courtney.

After getting a snack, Courtney sat down to watch a TV program her friends at school had told her about. They said it was the best show on TV, so she had started watching it whenever her mother was busy-she knew Mom wouldn't like the program.

and sisters, yea, and his own life also,
he cannot be my disciple.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Isaiah 53:3

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Job 31

1"I made a covenant with my eyes

not to look lustfully at a girl.

2For what is man's lot from God above,

his heritage from the Almighty on high?

3Is it not ruin for the wicked,

disaster for those who do wrong?

4Does he not see my ways

and count my every step?

5"If I have walked in falsehood

or my foot has hurried after deceit—

6let God weigh me in honest scales

and he will know that I am blameless—

7if my steps have turned from the path,

if my heart has been led by my eyes,

or if my hands have been defiled,

8then may others eat what I have sown,

and may my crops be uprooted.

9"If my heart has been enticed by a woman,

or if I have lurked at my neighbor's door,

10then may my wife grind another man's grain,

and may other men sleep with her.

11For that would have been shameful,

a sin to be judged.

12It is a fire that burns to Destructiona;

it would have uprooted my harvest.

13"If I have denied justice to my menservants and maidservants

when they had a grievance against me,

14what will I do when God confronts me?

What will I answer when called to account?

15Did not he who made me in the womb make them?

Did not the same one form us both within our mothers?

16"If I have denied the desires of the poor

or let the eyes of the widow grow weary,

17if I have kept my bread to myself,

not sharing it with the fatherless—

18but from my youth I reared him as would a father,

and from my birth I guided the widow—

19if I have seen anyone perishing for lack of clothing,

or a needy man without a garment,

20and his heart did not bless me

for warming him with the fleece from my sheep,

21if I have raised my hand against the fatherless,

knowing that I had influence in court,

22then let my arm fall from the shoulder,

let it be broken off at the joint.

23For I dreaded destruction from God,

and for fear of his splendor I could not do such things.

24"If I have put my trust in gold

or said to pure gold, 'You are my security,'

25if I have rejoiced over my great wealth,

the fortune my hands had gained,

26if I have regarded the sun in its radiance

or the moon moving in splendor,

27so that my heart was secretly enticed

and my hand offered them a kiss of homage,

28then these also would be sins to be judged,

for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.

29"If I have rejoiced at my enemy's misfortune

or gloated over the trouble that came to him—

30I have not allowed my mouth to sin

by invoking a curse against his life—

31if the men of my household have never said,

'Who has not had his fill of Job's meat?'—

32but no stranger had to spend the night in the street,

for my door was always open to the traveler—

33if I have concealed my sin as men do,b

by hiding my guilt in my heart

34because I so feared the crowd

and so dreaded the contempt of the clans

that I kept silent and would not go outside—

35("Oh, that I had someone to hear me!

I sign now my defense—let the Almighty answer me;

let my accuser put his indictment in writing.

36Surely I would wear it on my shoulder,

I would put it on like a crown.

37I would give him an account of my every step;

like a prince I would approach him.)—

38"if my land cries out against me

and all its furrows are wet with tears,

39if I have devoured its yield without payment

or broken the spirit of its tenants,

40then let briers come up instead of wheat

and weeds instead of barley."

....
There are two products of the feminist movement in our culture.  First, we are not raising women any more.  We are raising men who happen to be biologically capable of having children.

Secondly, we are not raising men any more.  We are raising these guys who from the time that they are small are taught to see women as completely like them in every way.  Women are not to be protected.  They are to be competed with.  We put them on teams when they are small and they compete with girls just like they compete with boys.

So this radical feminist agenda has actually produced a generation of men who believe that it is evil to be what the Bible says a man is supposed to be

.... I have to protect my marriage from my children.  I tell my children all the time.  Mommy and Daddy are committed to one another we come first, you don't.  They have to understand that.  It's Mommy and Daddy.  Our marriage is the foundation upon which our children's security is built.  For us to prioritize our children above our marriage is actually to undermine our children.

.... A lot of dads are uncomfortable with it.  They are uncomfortable with the way their daughters are dressing.  They are uncomfortable with the way their daughters conduct themselves around young men.  They are uncomfortable with the way young men are too familiar with their daughters but our culture has come along and whispered into their ears, "Now you know that's the way things are.  You are just overprotective. You need to let them…"  That's a lie.  It's an absolute lie.  So we have completely abdicated our responsibility and as a result we have an epidemic of unprotected women in our culture.  READ IT HERE

The sad reality of Alzheimer's....

..... is that 50% of all baby boomers will develop the disease. I am so glad that is not going to happen to any of you who read my newsletters and follow some simple advice

Get 8 -10 hours of sleep a night. Before Thomas Edison developed the light bulb, people slept an average of 10 hours a night. A lack of sleep has been shown clinically to reduce neural plasticity. The brain can't grow new cells and rebuild itself. Remember, on the 7th day even God rested.

B Complex
This supplement supplies significant amounts of water- soluble B vitamins. They are important for the support of the adrenal hormone production, regulation and the body's own production of energy through its enhancement of Coenzyme A production.

READ IT ALL  ->HERE

Until recently the standard medical belief was that we were born with a certain number of brain cells that would slowly die off and never be replaced resulting in a gradual mental decline usually ending in senility. In fact, "Benign forgetfulness of old age" remained a formal diagnosis.
Well let me tell you, you can forget all of that. Advances in brain imaging genetics and neuroscience now show that our body continues to create new brain cells throughout life. Also the neurons in our brains continue to change, develop and forge new connections even as we age. We actually have physical changes in our brain every time we learn something new. This evoking adaptability is called "Neuroplasticity". Some scientists believe that Dementia and Alzheimer's occurs when the brain loses this ability to grow and change. I think other causes include aluminum, lead and Aspartame (nutra-sweet) poisoning.

bored

Zak went to Nevada
for the summer and was bored
Lake Tahoe, Vegas, Reno.

....we are losing our capacity to wait for things. We are not just a fast-food nation, we want everything quickly, results now. Convenience takes priority over quality,

....it's not the depth and richness of our experiences and relationships, but the quantity and the perpetual zing we get out of it that matters.

.....We are terrified of being bored. Educational videos and lessons for children are advertised as fun, and that's a crucial criterion for everything

.....I find marriage a little boring, and raising four children, and going to work every day.

......" If we made all of our decisions based on how highly it scored today on the fun meter, we'd never commit ourselves to relationships and processes that take a long time to see any results..... And our culture is really falling apart over this one.

American Christians and Worldiness:
Resisting the Seduction of a Fallen World"
by C.J. Mahaney
Does it mean I can't watch MTV or go to an R-rated movie? Do I have to give up my favorite TV shows?...How do I know if I'm spending too much time playing games or watching YouTube clips on my computer?...Can a Christian try to make lots of money, own a second home, drive a nice car, and enjoy the luxuries of modern life?...How do I know if I'm guilty of the sin of worldliness?

In his introduction, Mahaney defines what it is, exactly, that we are not to love: "The world we're not to love is the organized system of human civilization that is actively hostile to God and alienated from God" (26, emphasis original). More specifically, worldliness is "a love for this fallen world. It's loving the values and pursuits of the world that stand opposed to God" (27). Some specific issues that the authors address throughout the book are the media, music, stuff, and clothes.

Worldliness closes with a chapter whose title is meant to be something of an ironic surprise: "How to Love the World" (written by Jeff Purswell). Here the author insists that "to read the message of this book as a call merely to avoidance is to misunderstand it....It would be equally tragic if we defined our relationship with the world simply in terms of negation" (140). In this chapter, Purswell seeks to demonstrate how it is that a Christian should love and faithfully live in this present world.

The only other area of disappointment with this book centers on the fact that, for the authors of Worldliness, the all-important task of distinguishing ourselves from the world is pursued on an almost completely individual level. While there is little doubt that the believer needs instruction on how to combat his own worldliness and sin, no Reformed Christian should underestimate the role that the visible church plays in setting ourselves apart from the citizens of this present evil age. In fact, one may go as far as to suggest that the primary way that we distinguish ourselves from nonbelievers is by our sacred activity, which primarily occurs in worship every Lord's Day as we are ushered into glory and truly leave the world behind.

Auntie Mercy

Atlanta, GA 8/10/2009 08:00 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)

Christian music group Mercy Me was involved in a fatal bus crash that left two teenagers and an unborn baby dead. Mercy Me was traveling on their tour bus in northeastern Indiana around 1 a.m. Saturday morning when a car suddenly turned in its path.
The driver of the car, 18-year-old Kara Klinker, is in serious condition. Her unborn child died as well as two passengers, 19-year-old Dario L. Boutte and 17-year-old Barbara R. Schmucker. None of the passengers on the tour bus were injured.

Iwas thinking about my dads aunt...I wanted to ramble about MERCY ...so I googled mercy to see what other folk are thinking....and I saw this tragic story from Atlanta...

Psalm 6 >>

1 O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long?
4 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.

I was torn after I started watching a movie that had found its way into my home.
I was so drawn to watching by the title that I didn't even check the rating....it wouldn't
have mattered...it was PG13...anyhow...I was tired after a hard day working...I should
have gone to bed. I had to eventually stop watching...although I really wanted to see the end.

How do I keep myself from evil?
I can't...so I pray the Lord's prayer
Deliver us from evil....but

I am told this...

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 1 John 5:18

Proverbs 19:16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

and this...

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)A devious person has thorns and traps ahead of him. Whoever guards himself will stay far away from them. Proverbs 22:5

--------------------------------------------
here's a redemption song as a prayer

SO, wash me Thou
Without , within
Or purge with fire,
If that must be
No matter how if only sin...
Die out in me
Die out in me

How Well do you Know Chuck Norris?

If you're a martial arts fan, you know Chuck Norris the six-time undefeated World Professional Middle Weight Karate Champion. If you're a fan of action movies, you know Chuck Norris the movie star of over twenty motion pictures. If you're one who watches much TV, you know Chuck Norris the star of "Walker, Texas Ranger", CBS's longest running series. But what about Chuck Norris the man? Chuck Norris the husband and father? Chuck Norris the Christian? These are just some of the sides of Carlos Ray Norris that you will come to love and respect once you've read his book

Against All Authority was founded in Florida in 1992. Early in their career the band decided to book concerts, make recordings and even produce band t-shirts on their own. Later they signed on independent label Hopeless Records, becoming one of their major bands. They have also influenced a number of other bands....and
perhaps millions of young people....  OUTRAGEOUS !!!!

Hebrews 3 :12 Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you ever develop a wicked, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 Encourage each other every day while you have the opportunity. If you do this, none of you will be deceived by sin and become stubborn. 14 After all, we will remain Christ's partners only if we continue to hold on to our original confidence until the end.
15 Scripture says, "If you hear God speak today, don't be stubborn. Don't be stubborn like those who rebelled."
Proverbs 3:11  Despise not - Either by making light of it, or not being duly affected with it; or by accounting it an unnecessary thing: but rather esteem it a privilege and favour from God. Weary - Neither think it tedious or hard, but endure it with patience and chearfulness.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary
3:7-12 There is not a greater enemy to the fear of the Lord in the heart, than self-conceit of our own wisdom. The prudence and sobriety which religion teaches, tend not only to the health of the soul, but to the health of the body. HERE

Hebrews 12:5 You have forgotten the encouraging words that God speaks to you as his children: "My child, pay attention when the Lord disciplines you. Don't give up when he corrects you.
6 The Lord disciplines everyone he loves. He severely disciplines everyone he accepts as his child."
7 Endure your discipline. God corrects you as a father corrects his children. All children are disciplined by their fathers. 8 If you aren't disciplined like the other children, you aren't part of the family.

Sin brings complications—things we cannot know beforehand...
Discipline, for the most part, is a private matter. It is between God and the offending party—not for another to judge. God will make one aware of the offense and the fact that the discipline is from him. If this were not the case, what good would the discipline do? God does not take sin lightly. He does not want us to take it lightly either.
Verse 6 makes it clear that every child of God receives his discipline. The degree and severity of the discipline depends upon several factors. One factor is our response to the discipline. Conviction is a first step in the discipline process. If one responds to conviction, there is no need to escalate the process. If one ignores conviction, God will get one's attention at another level. The fact that God loves us does not mean he is willing to overlook ...our sin. - Thomas R. Fletcher

Jesus invites me to be a servant.

the main motive.
Christ says I reject HIM and HIS teachings whenever I am selfish.

we don't always see the results of our selfishness
some recent news stories helped me to see.

family chronicles

the hunts, the grants and the roberts

"Hi Friend. I undertand life can be a rush, but you need to make time for self. A little down time is good, especially when one is not getting younger.  I am doing fine, enjoying life as best as possible." This is what I read from a long time friend yesterday, now a professor in criminal justice in North Carolina  with a focus on juveniles.

The Grants were an older couple that I admired very much during my teen years. Back then, us teens went to youth camp in the summer about a hundred miles from our home. Somtimes the camp would run after our church convention. This was when we got to see many of the families from churches in other parts of the country....and in my mind the Grants stood out. They seemed to be always to be always talking to each other...the wife and the husband. So it came as no surprise to me how their legacy lives on in my friend the professor.

This weekend another model family at our current church have invited the entire church to attend the wedding of their daughter. There is no doubt in my mind that the Hunt family can be an example to many. Sometimes the entire family will go up and sing together. This to me, is outstanding in todays world.

Richard and Lindsay Roberts to me are an amazing couple not just because of their high-profile television ministry but how they seem to be able to think and talk the same things on live television without contradiction or conflict. Recently Richard pointed out that God "invented" the family long before HE created the church.

Yesterday I got tragic news from another family.
The son-in-law was drinking and driving....this was the only time he had driven drunk.
A head-on collision killed a seventy year-old woman who was taking care of a handicapped daughter. This young man has a wife and two young children...he is hospitalized at this time and is not expected to live much longer.

PLEASE PRAY especially for the circumstances
of this fourth family.

<< 1 Corinthians 13 >>

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

I eventually went to see him yesterday

then he went through the routine questioning
grunting every now and then
I had told him up front that I had fully expected to

waltzing out into the lobby racing down to the street
to head off the parking ticket which I thought
I would have, since the meter only gave me until

I was releved....NO PARKING TICKET !
